I would get a local tarmac company to do the job, oh and dont forget to take out liability insurance !!!!!

Mine cost £400 about 2 years ago. That was done by the council, i could have got a local builder to do it for £200 but i heard that you could be liable if anything happens.
Hence the liability insurance !!!!!
It costs about £35 for 2 million quids worth !!!!!

yup, the council have quoted £450 they said i could get an approved contractor if i wanted but i would be liable for any reinstatement required if the council inspector wasnt happy with the job, so i might as well let them do it

Now see I could have told you that had you posted your question earlier cos we had a drive right up to our front window at our old house (if I opened the window I could touch the truck hubby used to bring home) and the neighbour just had one put in here where we live

Hey Retsy I've a couple of questions I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
1, The car park of a local garden centre has a designated entrance and exit. Is it against the law to use the exit as an entrance. And if the exit was used as an entrance and there was an accident would the insurance pay up or could they claim that as the accident was not on public property they weren't liable to pay up?
2. Going back to trees and hedges. If someone wants a neighbours Leylandii trees cut down and both parties were in agreement to cutting them down. How would a third party go about having them protected as there's an owl nesting in one of them?
No I'm not taking the **** with this one! It's just that the trees are adjacent to my garden, I've no problem with them and I've got attached to the owls that have been nesting in them for the last 20 odd years. If they were left a couple more years so I could put up and get the owls used to some nest boxes in other trees in the area then I wouldn't have a problem. But the neighbour wants to cut them down this spring.

Turning to your 2nd question firstly,
All you can do is ask your neighbours not to cut the trees down for the very reason that you have stated, Namely "the owls", As Leylandii are not a protected tree your chances of getting any kind of court order, would be at the very least slim !!!!! It might be worth your while contacting the RSPB, They ussually have a few tricks up there sleeves in these cases !!!!!
Also after watching "the owls" struggle in the Coca cola championship this year, i fully support all your efforts to keep them up there !!!!!
Now turning to your second question,
You state that "it is against the law to use the enrance as an exit", Why is it ??? Please explain in a little more detail.
