Ooooo our deeds say something about not building walls to the front and I want a front wall to my garden............ so does that mean that cos the house was bought 40 years ago and built 80 years ago I can build a wall?

To clarify the garden wall questions.

As long as you own the property and the wall you want to build does not breach the rules below,

1, Any boundry wall to the front of a property must not exceed 2ft 9" high.

2, You must be able to have a clear view when entering onto or leaving the public highway.

3, It does not obstruct the vision of your neighbours property.

If you have any doubts then please check with your local planning office, Its only a quick call and can save a load of red tape.

Hope this helps.

Shame this doesnt apply to caravans in front yards. For years my dad had to put up with being unable to see when leaving his drive because our neighbours had a caravan parked out beyond their boundary. They have moved it since we moved into the property but nothing to do with us complaining to the council on more than one occasion but because they now own 4 cars and need somewhere to park them:rolleyes:

Its more of a police matter in that case.

By law you can not cause an obstruction which could cause an accident.

My next door neighbours (mr & mrs ****!!!!! ) refused to cut there 29 feet tall conifer down, well until i moved in and it became known i was a lawyer:D

It was fully removed within 3 weeks !!!!! strange that dont ya think ?????:D

Hmmm never worked for my dad, my eldest brother was a lawyer but he doesn't practice any more and he was more a corporate lawyer but they didnt know that!

Regarding the caravan why don't you just go round to their house, tell them you need the space to work on your landy, give them a story about a potentially big repair you might need to do.

Then park it up, lift the bonnet and put a big piece of mechanical looking oily something or other next to it.

Leave it there for a few days tinkering on it.

Or, just go and ask if they could please move it, I understand being a neighbour, and wanting to keep some sort of civility it might be benificial to have some sort of 'excuse'.

fer the caravan ah think you need to speak to ming see if you can borrow porky's balls then go round and tell them to shift it
