Doesn’t look too difficult , christ I’m setting myself up here, lol

Spark plugs last huge miles these days, something like 80K miles IIRC .
also heard that ref LPG , wondering though if I see one with LPG if I should stay away from it, even though I would remove it I would assume possible damage has already been done
LPG is best avoided, as the AJ41 isn't suitable for it.

wow , I was honestly thinking u needed to change them every year

this may sound stupid , can’t see any ign leads or are they hidden

indeed will avoid the LPG , would it be best to walk away if LPG has been fitted plse ,

Found the camshaft chain tensioner video interesting

thks

blimey , that doesn’t hang about :):)

just teasing:) it’s an old P38 with extras:) and a quiet exhaust;)

You are in a position that the consumption doesn’t matter, the 322 gets up and goes with ease and when you need it it does what you expect. Long distance is a dream to drive.

Go test drive and you will make up your own mind.

Not for 30 years Gary. Spark plugs now last more like 10 years. ;)

No plug leads either. Those have been a thing of the past for 20 years. All petrol engines now used tiny coils (called pencil coils) which fit down the plug hole. Even a 2002 Freelander V6 uses pencil coils, as do pretty much every petrol engine vehicle now. ;)

lol,

indeed the miles don’t matter , a cheap 4,4 D3 that needs work might turn up, room for another one on my drive and wouldn’t matter how long it took to fix because I’ve got my current one ,yeh i know I need to behave , snigger

cheers, makes me feel old as I’ve had diesels for that long

oh well that takes the weak spot out then by removing the leads , there was me thinking it would have a distributor, lol

As always , enjoy learning new things

As a chap who knows these engines inside out, and one that recommends the Jag V8 over any other i'd say go for it..
Doing work on the V8 is much simpler than on the TDV6 again from experience. ;)

Jag engine is also long lived it IS the best v8 petrol engine fitted to any LR to date in my opinion. There are XJR's at Santa pod that run NOS with a twin scroll charger and over 600hp with ease.

MPG is something to take on the chin "v8" and MPG seldom go together.

Th D3 V8 will do around 17 around the doors and 22-25 on a run..

LPG is fine so long as it has a flashlube system fitted..
@ukadamwest has an L322 with the proper engine with LPG and it runs really well on it..

many thks as always

The rest of the D3 I’m fine with , just the engine I wouldn’t know what to look for but alas am in no rush because I want to ensure I get a good one and not a money pit

Daft question plse, if the timing chain tensioners need doing , do the cams have to come out or can u simply replace the tensioners as indeed know ur extremely knowledgeable with these engines

did see one ages ago, if I remember rightly , the engine was rattling it’s head off and the guy wanted around £2k for it, pretty sure it was a 2007 D3

as that’s another option of buying another project , have space on my drive so no issues with it being off the road and could work on it to my hearts content, yeh i know , behave myself, lmao

won’t rush into it and keep my options open , need to finally finish mine, ie brake hoses and few little bits but will start keeping my eye out

thks again

Another idiot whom modified the exhaust pipe to sound louder, or removing it, by the sound at least. Here in the uk the vehicle would fail the mot or should if the correctly done.
So what’s all this about the sound of a V8 something that newbie’s get excited about perhaps, bless them :D

Does anyone happen to know what euro rating the 4.4 is please

is it different between petrol and diesel plse

many thks as always

see there’s suppose to be a euro 7 being launched , alas don’t know if that’s true or old news

Indeed and sounds awful in that video in what he’s done , also seen but don’t know the name of them where it’s life a flap that’s cut into the exhaust, electric motor and switch inside the cabin where they can open and close the flap which makes it louder or quieter

first V8 I heard was in a series 3 whilst off roading

Tensioners seldom go wrong, unless it has been abused, but they can be replaced without removing the cam ;)
