Anyone else done this ford recently?Ive just come back from going through it in the rangie and I struggled! Its not espesially deep but the lip on the north edge nearly killed the engine!its like a big pot hole but with the lip on the edge of the tarmac making his part about 4 foot deep! The V8 didnt like that!Any one got any tips for making a waterproof V8?!(apart from get a diesel!)

Hi Ya

I know that lip well there was a foot drop from the road how deep is it now?

We used to have a V6 ford in a landrover chassis built as a space framed off roader.... we used to stretch a rubber glove over the distributer cap and poke the leads through the fingers..

also wrap a plastic sandwhich bag around the coil, just basically try and keep as much water away from the electrics as possible. even coat all the leads in the plastic bag and glove in grease or Bathroom silicon sealant....

used to work a treat for us......

Another ford to try is Furneux Pelham a road running north from Furneux Pelam to Brent Pelam in Hertfordshire just West of Stansted Airport. called Voilets Lane. be warned not for the faint hearted or anyone with out a snorcal........... approx 1/2 mile long 4ft deep + in places....

cheers chaps!Have to lose a glove out of the fetish set, I mean first aid kit!

That step is bloody big now.
Nearly to the point where the diff almost touches the tarmac as one wheel drops down.
Make sure you go slow when exiting onto the tarmac, a bit of speed will see tarmac trying to enter the diff through the casing!!

i went the other way!So had to climb out of the ford up that dropoff!might not do tha again!

Hi, I've done Furneux Pelam ford, without a snorkel, it's the longest ford in Europe and well worth a vist

all the best urban dekay

so when are people going back there? i did terling a couple of months ago and didn't thik it too bad but i am in a S3 dooozel with a snorkel if anyone fancies going down there give me a PM and i will tag along (my landy runs again......just)

there was no running or hiding involved i have landrover non starting problems and fixing of driveway/garden problems

Me and some of my mates may chip in for a few bags of tarmac over the summer when water level is low and fill the hole in.
At moment it is a killer

It'll wash out mix some concrete using portland cement and sharp sand 40mm gravel but don't add any water. Then dump the lot in the hole. It'll set solid and never wash out.

reds a paving expert you should listen to him, i will pop down there saturday and see how bad it is. i always drop in from the north end as i hit my head going the other way

its really big drop now i done the ford yesterday and i didnt no it was there and hit my head really hard lol
