Did you put any new adjusters in? I am still looking to work on my engine and I think at least one of them will need changing, I wondered if you might store them in a shallow tray of oil standing upright to keep them primed.

Hi Ray, sorry for late reply, car sold now but I dip into the forum occasionally!
I just used a piece of foam with holes in to keep the adjusters upright.
Worked fine first time, when I did the head again later I didn't keep them upright hence the occasional tapping!

Well glad you have sold it but sorry to think of all the hard work that went into it, someone has a good engine which should run for a while.
Still planning to do mine next year and I suspect some of the adjusters are not so good, starting to collect all the bits I will need so I can spread the cost a bit.

Im happy that my rebuild did over 25000 miles with no issues at all, actually the last 20000 miles cost me £200 (front wheel hubs, water pump)
I got £2700 for it, so fairly happy.
Chap flew down from Glasgow, paid in advance and drove her home that evening!
Honestly, Im not missing her!
I enjoyed most of the driving I did, liking the 12 plate Mondeo now have , but Ive had to learn a lot about DPFs!
At least diagnostics tools are cheap, £15 for a cable and free decent Forscan software.
I like 50 MPG too!
But still might be doing a Series II rebuild next year!
