I used the alarm led on the speedo with mine too
Fitting the clocks did me a massive favour, the square end of the speedo drive gear was broken so I replaced it with a blue 20 tooth one
My speedo had been a bit out as it still had a disco gear in it (disco transfer box fitted)

Well I finnaly wired up the handbreak light as needed a new lever with the switch fitted on so all done working very well :)

What did you use the red alarm light inside the speedo for??
Don't think I've got need for it or half the other warning lights lol.

Cos I fitted a Tdci bulkhead I gained the 10as alarm module and central locking stuff so there was a pink wire to connect to the one for the td5 speedo led
Just wired it up and yep it works

My TD5 binnacle was all working fine till I had take it back out to get speedo out to have mileage changed to correct mileage, when plug the warning binnacle back in, the glow plug light and battery light no longer work everything else works fine. I've check they are fully pushed in in the plug which they are, is there any obvious thing mean only these lights don't work?

Also my temperature gauge will randomly now go to fully hot then drop back down to normal position and flutter about, could this be the sender or a bad earth?

could be, but if your bat light is broke, your alt mightn't be working until you fix it.

It come on very slightly when first turn the key but you can only just see it for split second same with glow plug light.

how about getting a length of wire, sticking one end to the neg bat/good earth point and the other to the binnacle earth. that should let you test the earth.

I'll give this a try!

I've realised it's also the oil light that's not coming on when first turn the key.

It must be something common to all 3 that's not working

Sorted the binnacle problem.

Temperature gauge I have found if turn the heating off (the blower part) it goes back to a normal position.

how did you sort it?

temp gauge with heater on is another earth fault. you checked the earth bolt/on the engine bulkhead to the right of the brake servo?

I took it all apart and started again, I obviously didn't have a wire pushed in properly somewhere. Once it was back together it worked fine. so cables tied it up and taped it to keep it tidy and stop it moving around.

If it an earth fault I will check, I wasn't sure what it would be. No I haven't! That be job for weekend! Thanks for all your help.

Glad I've stumbled upon this thread as I plan on putting a td5 bulkhead on my 200tdi 90, I wasn't going to use the binnacle from the td5 but I will now be trying this mod
.. Is it possible to use the whole td5 dash including door sensors and the steering wheel and rack as it's all there for me??

Maybe by adapting my 200tdi loom onto the td5 lights and appliances.

The TD5 dash should go on without issue and the main differences with the wiring will be to the binnacle. "door sensors" ? How many splines on 200TDi and TD5 steering wheel? You'll need a speed transducer but can you get the one from the TD5 that's being taken apart?

Door sensors I was talking about were the little push in things that turn the lights on when the door opens and it.Doesn't matter how many splines are on the steering wheel, I have the whole thing still together. What I was wondering was do I use the complete dash, with the td switches, indicators clocks hazard button ect ect and can all that connect up to my 200 tdi loom...

I know the modification to make the td5 speedo and dash lights work already so if I used my 200 tdi dash I could use the td5 clocks but I want to know if I can use the whole td5 dash. Headlight switch ect

I was going to suggest it might be easier to use your old steering shaft if the number of splines are the same. Yes the transducer just unscrews
