Hello guys, please can i borrow someones wisdom.
2002 td4 fl, just wont start.
All i get is click click click, dash lights on, i can hear the pump prime, just wont turn over.
It gets worse, ive had the starter out and replaced the copper contacts in the solenoid, didnt do a dam thing. Which really knocked me back, coz i lost my knuckles undoing that bloody bottom bolt.
Ive ordered a new battery with a cca of 750, im hoping this cures it, maybe the mine just hasnt got enough in it, although showing 12v on the multi.

Im not getting intermittent starts, was working perfect, 2 days standing then click click.
Any help will be gratefully received, thanks

it Might be just the battery .. with luck ..
td4's .. going by what gets posted .. seem to be sensitive regarding battery charge ..
a good fully charged battery should read 12.6 volts or more
according to some info via google .. 12 volts only .. might indicate a battery holding 25% charge

Have you tried jump starting with booster pack or another car and jump leads. If it starts then would indicate battery problem.

Thanks for the info guys, battery arrived today, fitted it and im back in business!
So..
The battery that came out was a 76amp 540cca. It has worked without trouble, so thinking the cold killed it (although its far from dead)
And the one i replaced it with was
Exide Premium 77Ah 760CCA 12v Type 067 Car Battery 4 Year Warranty - EA770
cost me 65quid on fleabay, reasonable me thinks.

thought it worth sharing, i no its a fairly common thing. Seems the cca (cold cranking amps) is vital when the temps drop. So buy the highest number u can afford, and i would avoid halfrauds guys as im sure many of u already do. Their batteries and frankly crap advice (gormless stare more like) leave something to be desired.

one other thing that i notes on diagnosis,
When unlocking and opening drivers door, i would hear beeping and a red led flashing on dash. Pointed to the fact that key fob battery was low. Have not changed it yet, but now new 12v battery installed, the beeping has stopped. Maybe this is a warning for battery issues and not just key fobs?

Thanks again guys, off for a much deserved and anticipated drive

Another thing that's so much more expensive over here - that same battery costs twice as much.

Hi there i recently had a very similar problem, had my battery checked on two different testers one was a snap on and the other was 400quid top quality one and they both said good battery, but one day it would start the next it would;nt ,then one day i got a funny smell in the car stopped opened the bonnet and there was smoke pouring out of the battery ,so the problem was definately knackered battery ,new one cured everything a battrey fault can cause all sorts of problems .

That makes me glad it wouldn't start til i fixed it, rather than the smoke pouring out
Battery's hey, still the new one looks rather dashing in its oily surroundings..
