We were trying to trace a clunk in my drive train when accelerating straight after decelerating so from stand still a brief accelerate then totally lift off and back on again straight away . The same problem on the 2006 models was to upgrade the software so as to prevent harsh acceleration in this scenario.

Wear where the driveshaft splines go in the hub? Just added some Loctite to one of mine on the P38 and noise gone.

I changed out my front CV joints to try and trace it but didn't change anything. I think it is just general play throughout the whole drivetrain as I have never managed to find it. I even stripped and rebuilt my transfer box..

For Rovers I run RDS 5.06 and LR RDS 7.06.
Long shot because we live in 2017 already but, after I finished several diagnostic tool projects like Ford FDS2000 (Jaguar PDU=equivalent), WDS (Ford, Jaguar and Aston Martin), and my latest a fully working JLR SDD its is time for a new adventure, a T4 (hopefully). For MG / Rover I'm now using a ACR4 and that is working great but in compare to the original T4 it has got a lot of limitations.

So for now I am looking for the software (Rover RDS 5.06 and Land Rover 7.06), is there somebody willing to send me a copy of those CD's?

And 2nd:
Hopefully I will get access to some of the measurent tools for the T4 so I can reverse them too.The goal is to make a multi box that does most of the different stuff in a simple box with a switch or a mcu to select different cable set ups.

What is the status of this goal? (yes I am aware is was 2014)

Don't think any of us use T4. Nanocom does most things. Hawkeye does almost as much. If you need more you go for Faultmate. For budget do a bit there is Lynx and EAS unlock from Storey Wilson et al.

Who in their right mind would wish to use T4. The only people I know who use it is because they have had the system years & always come to me for the complicated stuff, that gets successfully achieved using Faultmate / Rovacom.
I just cannot see why anyone would wish to waste all the effort when there are systems out there that make the T4 look like an old valve radio

Matt, I could supply you with a copy of absolutely any diagnostic disk for TestBook that you might require from our library of about 50 or so, and to boot, i could also supply you or MHM with any cabling schematic for any TB lead, in fact as we have all the parts including all connectors and custom made adaptors, i could in fact supply you with not only any lead you wish, but i did also develop a really cool item called a leadmate that has a button pad and LCD and could be used to replicate any of the many TB leads. But that project got canned.

And i will also tell you that for an L322 (pre 05 at least) you need a DTC0065 (Red OBDII) lead

But, regardless of any degree of nobility you may have, let me tell you catagorically and out right that you will be totaly wasting your time if you think either will produce a workable diagnostic system. You must appreciate to some degree that you cannot directly plug ethernet or USB into a vehicles OBDII socket and as such you will be missing a most vital interface part.

I am sorry that it is me being the fly in the ointment of your plan, as we produce LR diagnostic equipment, and as such i might well be expected to say as much, but then that is exactly that reason why i uniquely have such a very detailed knowledge of the both the TestBooks hardware and software, now spanning over 15 years.

In my time i have upgraded and repaired loads of all different versions, modified and updated them and even built one in a standard PC on a couple of occasions. Even now i am freely helping a chap called Matthew In SA rebuild one from scratch, updating it's CD drive and fitting a floppy drive to it, so i really do know what i am talking about.

Re producing TestBook hardware is not actually a new idea and has been the holy grail of so very many since the TB was first introduced. It was in fact where it all started for me, and i had TB software running on a Toshiba Tecra laptop almost 15 years ago for all the good it did.

To all common knowledge and understanding, re producing a working set of TestBook or T4 (its later incarnation) interface hardware has proved simply impossible, and to date, to everyones knowledge (else we all would have heard about it) no one has ever managed it and released it.

I phrase that last paragraph quite carefully, because i myself do actually know of just one guy who has actually managed to do it very sucessfully, to the degree that it actually works much faster and better than the origional equipment ever did.

If you or anyone is interested i will happily spend some time explaining everything you might ever wish to know about Testbook and T4's interface hardware and exactly how I managed to duplicate it.

Welcome to the forum. This thread is 11 years old, no-one has commented in the past 4 years ans rhe original poster hasn't been seen in 6 months. Most people on here consider Testbook a bit of a heap, although I doubt many have actually used it.

The holy-grail for me would be a version that worked on Android through a Bluetooth dongle, a bit like Ian Hawkins does with Torque but as far as I am aware neither Storey Wilson or BBS have done this yet. You might even know why but I suspect Matt has lost interest.
