Presumably flashing red means all is not well. Check the OBD connector for corrosion and water ingress at the rear. Battery voltage OK? read the instructions??
I assume you have the correct synchmate for your vehicle?

I presume it's the right one I've looked at the obd and all looks well gonna have a better look tomorrow just hoping someone's had same problem or similar and give me a clue

The wires corrode off the back of the OBD connector. If it's not the correct syncmate it will not work.

how will i know if its the syncmate is the right one the fella i bought it off told me he brought it for a 2001 vogue the same as mine, ill have to check the back of the obd tomorrow whats the best way to address the obd to check as my passenger door doesnt open

Yeah but he does not need to have bought the correct one. I could buy a pair of size 4 shoes for the missus doesn't mean she can get her size 6 feet in them. What numbers does the syncmate have on it? Your engine should be Thor syncmate should be BSM01. :D:D

hi, yes it was advertised as for thor engine !!!!!!!! adam , check the white sockets behind the left and right front plates , unplug and check front and back for corrosion spray with electrical contact let them dry and reconnect ,,, I am still of opinion that your r.f. receiver is goosed ,also will check up the b,ec,m, report not got hold of rick yet ,, did you sort out with local main dealer for diagnostics ????????????? :) cheers mozz

Hey mozz hope u had a good holiday ...I've spoke to the land rover garage and still trying to get the motor there but no luck yet I'm gonna have a look at the connections tomorrow and the obd to see if anything looks corroded or wrong

I always think buying something like a syncmate off fleebay is a gamble, you have no idea if it works or if it's for the correct engine, model of the car means nothing, it's the engine ECU type that matters, diesel, Gems or Thor.

It should have a blue label on it with the designation number. BSM01 Thor. BSM02 Diesel. BSM03 Gems. They are all identical to look at, so without the label it could anyone of the three.

It's got a blue label on it but it just says BeCM sync-mate blackbox solutions

Ok but it does make you wonder how BBS differentiate between the three versions when they send them out, if there is no designation number on them. Have you tried ignition key in various positions whilst trying to sync? Switch ignition on plug in syncmate wait for lamp to go green unplug switch off then try to start.

I tried in position 1 and 1 red flash and at position 2 it gives 5 red flashes so I think it's the right 1 else I presume it wouldn't give different flashes maybe

I wish mine did that never seen a green light

Check the OBDII socket connections then. If it's the correct unit and it can communicate it will do the job. If you just get red lights it's not talking to the systems for some reason you have to find out why.
