You are entititled to your opinion, but it isnt the same as mine! :)

Polybushes work pretty well for me, I have fitted several sets, current ones working well since 2008! :)

My mate drove all the way to Cape Town in a polybushed series, the bushes were about the only bit he didnt have issues with! :D

Polybush kits were available from the 1970s as an upgrade for Saabs that were used in unusually rough conditions!

Saab thing was possible to make for easier repair in rough conditions rather than an up grade. Poly bushes are not as durable as metalastics but can be changed quicker.;);)

If yu like metalastic, enjoy! :) I will continue to enjoy my polys! :)

From the sound of the problem, I cannot see bushes being the issue.if you have bushes going you have a looseness of control. This sounds like the car is trying to commit suicide at every opportunity .the bushes must have fallen out.

As the car is accelerated the front axle pulls and the rear axle pushes. If an axle is pushed or pulled out of line you will get direction deviation. With throttle off the front axle is pushed and the rear axle pulled. A small amount of play in the several bushes that hold the axles in line will build into a lot of axle movement. Specially on the front end which will effect directional control. The front radius arm bushes, panhard rod bushes and steering connections MUST be sound. A bit of play in any will result in a lot of axle twist on acceleration or overrun.

I understand that, but from the O/P description, its leaping from one side of the highway to the other. He reckons that he has checked bushes and can find no movement.I reckon something serious is amiss

He says when he removes his hands from the steering wheel it dives to the right. That would suggest to me that the left front wheel is forward of the right front wheel and he is correcting that with steering input. That is quite possible if there is a buildup of play associated with the L/H radius arm it would be pulled forwards under power. When he goes into overrun the L/H wheel moves rearwards because the axle is being pushed not pulled and the steering correction he is using to overcome the problem when under acceleration or power causes a dive to the left. Bit like the Rocky horror show.

Maybe. But usually it isnt. Even a totalled panhard rod bush, or a loose bolt, can give very alarming symptoms. And if the driver isnt used to landrovers, even the normal handling can seem alarming! :D

Got a vid of the passenger radius arm bottom bushing which was my suspect and I uploaded it let me know what you think it clearly moves up and down a good bit read that its only supposed to move an 1/8 of an inch anyway heres the link let me know what you think and if you have anything else I should record I can upload it for you to look at unfortunately I do not have a mount that will allow me to record both sides at the same time when you hear the clunking noise thats when I let off and it sways this is at about 40 mph

ive known it for the holes in the bracket to elongate allowing the arm to move but bolt doesnt seem to move just the arm so looking like the bush or perhaps the bolts wasted as it goes through the bush

Do you know if someone has done a video or a written up tutorial on removing them?
you can press the bush out or drill the rubber and hacksaw the outer steel tube then knock it out with a chisel, you need to undo the other end first to remove the arm 3 x 17mm headed nuts /bolts
