Hi All,

I'm currently sat on the side of the road. Range was seemingly fine 20mins ago but now, not so much.

On the dash came up:
Traction failure
Gearbox failure
Abs fault

Followed by other beeps but couldn't see the dash display any more. All fuses are fine.

On a scale of 1 - 10 - how f**ked am I?

Flat Battery probably caused by faulty alternator....

ABS, TC and Brake Warning lights are the first systems to respond to low battery volts....

This then causes the BeCM to loss sync on the Petrol Models (as they seem more susesptable to low volts causing loss of sync than the Diesels for unknown reasons)

Yeah I have. They're on their way. Just thought I see if it was something daft. Last time it cut out it was a 10amp fuse.

It's ok don't worry. As places to break down go this ones quite convenient, there's a motor factors ten minutes away.

Sounds like you should try a jump start first...that will answer the battery question. Good luck!

Hope you got sorted? Why is it whenever you see a thread on here about being broke down on side of road does P38 or freelander pop straight to mind!? Then you look properly and 99% of the time you are confirmed correct!
I always fancied a P38 but this forum has changed my mind, they seem nothing but bloody trouble!
Let us know how you got on:)

I’m pretty sure that in the same moment other drivers in our big world were stranded with their BMW, Porsche, Volvo, Toyota and so on … They just don’t have a wonderful forum like this one to let their fellows know about it, share their bad luck and get live assistance (or just kill time waiting for breakdown assistance) :)

Mwbm let us know what the problem was. Hope you are safe home

Probably not do much for the Toyota Drivers.....

Hi guys, it's was indeed the alternator. Jump started it and ironically the first thing the dash said was 'alternator fault'
Managed to get enough juice in the battery to get me home. Will fit a new one on the weekend.
Any recommendations on cheap 150amp alternator suppliers??

What do I win for being the first with a correct diagnosis???

I know, I know...shut up Saint...go back in the corner and stop blowing that feeking trumpet...!!!:D:D:D

Don't, get a good one, not a cheap one! You don't want to be stranded again, do you?
