Just fit new brushes, diode pack and regulator, cheaper than a new alternator, unless the slip rings are badly worn

Where you get that stuff then? handy to have around, just waiting for it to go fubar

I'm a bit out of touch with UK sources but you can find the bits on Ebay and there have been a couple of threads recently quoting sources
