I think the best bet it to leave someone in the vehicle and the other person head back down the B855 towards Brough. There's the Windhaven cafe and camping and then further on back inland there are a few farms. Hopefully someone will have a 4x4 for towing a caravan or a farmers will be around.

Quite possible someone with a 4x4 will appear in the car park during the day. Popular spot with sightseers. If he is only 15m from tarmac, and has a decent rope, a car might be able to assist.

there is a camping and motorhome park nearby = worth a walk to see what vehicles are there, otherwise beg the distillery for a fork lift truck?

Right @madmonky please answer the following:

1. Are you and your family safe / warm / dry?
2. Are you in immediate danger?
3. Are you able to effect a safe 'self rescue'?
4. Are you able to summon help from the local vicinity?
5. Weather conditions on scene?

Whilst a debate about the local flora and fauna is probably quite interesting, it is not for this thread.

TIA

we have to do something to occupy ourselves :) and how do you know it isnt relevant? There might be a suitable large tree, or Yak standing idly by, chewing the cud......

We are out now thankfuly. Sorry, I was trying not to get my phone too muddy and signal was crap as TMHM said. A nice fisherman in a Discovery 4 with a tiny ATV winch managed to pull us out.

FYI...15 meters from solid ground...not tarmac, that was a further few hundred meters away

FFS come on, he would have contacted the emergency services if he was in imminent danger not Landyzone. Get a grip!
