After a really stupid move, we are stuck in the mud at Dunnet Head (near John O Groats) any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

About 15m from hard ground

Thanks
Jordan

According to the LZ Rescue map the nearest member is in Inverness

Cripes. You really went out of your way, didn't you?!

Nearest member I can see is @Druim but he's down in Inverness. Are there any farmers around?

I have been to Dunnet Head, it is a fairly sparsely populated area, and like he says,^^^, the nearest LZ member is miles away.

Might be an idea to see if you can find a local farmer with a tractor who will tow you out for a few quid.

If rocking, diff-locks, lowering tyre pressure (careful if it is close to grounding), shoving stuff under the tyres, digging th eslippy stuff out and making a smaller gradient and digging out the diff etc still isn't cutting the mustard and no-one turns up you can try anchoring a strap on a tree and see if you can wind it around a wheel to use the wheel like a winch. You'll need diff locks though and stay away from that strap because if it goes under load it'll break you.

No trees there.

I have been there before. It is a beautiful spot, with a great view over the Old Man of Hoy. :)

But I left my Saab in the well tarmaced car park. :D

Where's the fun in that?! Besides, he's in a Land Rover, you can feel the mud calling like a sloppy siren.

Most times Ive seen people stuffing things under wheels all they do is create effective chocks!

Jacking wheels up to get stuff properly under can help.

I think the best bet it to leave someone in the vehicle and the other person head back down the B855 towards Brough. There's the Windhaven cafe and camping and then further on back inland there are a few farms. Hopefully someone will have a 4x4 for towing a caravan or a farmers will be around.
