Got the engine and boxes out today.

I have also separated the gear/transbox apart to.

The craziest thing happened to!!! all the bolts come out of the exhaust down pipe!!!! i was expecting these to snap! hopefully the turbo core ones will be ok to. currently they are soaking in plus-gas.

Tomorrow im planning on taking the wings off to make it easier to pull the front axle off over the weekend.

I see you have LR tool number one handy on the drive there. ;)

The wings are off!

Not to much trouble at all. The only bolts i had to cut was the M10 ones at the bottom of the wing where it bolts to the sill.

Im now ready to pull the axle off tomorrow. The drop arm is off and the puller was well worth its money.

Ive given all the bolts a going over with a wire wheel and a good soaking in plus-gas.

I wouldn’t pull the axle off until I was down to a rolling chassis. It’s far easier to move if the need arises.

We all do things differently.

My aim this week is to get as many mechanical components in the garage as possible as i am back at work on Monday so i will not have any daylight to work in so striping the parts off in the way i am will give me plenty to do in the evenings.

As from Monday i will be stripping the Engine, cleaning parts and inspecting as i go.

Going well so far
decent pace as well

I’ve not enjoyed a rebuild thread since Aaron Morris’s old builds - This is going to be fun!!

Now he was a landyzone legend, excellent builds and man he could strip a landy fast, seem to remember he stripped a 90 to bits over a weekend with minimal facillities.

Always good to watch a rebuild thread

Cheers mate.

Im working on it 9-3 ish each day. not taking over my life just yet but i do like to research jobs to do and parts in the afternoon.

which one he did several

the man got a 5.7 cummins in a 90 and it looked smart and very professional

search for arronmorris threads - he's done several

They're in the Defender section

think is about on facebook exploring urban enviroments, most on here would aspire to his standard of rebuild with such limited facilities

@landy-lee I swear by that Plus Gas

He was a lovely lad, I visited him a few times. He achieved everything whilst enduring hideous issues with his neighbours. He was completely self taught. Each Landy he done, he learnt a bit more. He’s definitely a miss on here.

Axle is off!

The radius arms were a bugger to get out of the chassis bushings.

As you can see in the bottom photo the part of the radius that sits in the bush is really rusted. Do you think they are no good as i don't think they will sit in the new bushings very well and will be sloppy?

Possibly, though I would be tempted to grind it down and weld a new sleeve on to guarantee a tight snug fit.
