A short trip to the shops (2 miles) I noticed both fans came on.
The electric ones in front of the rad.
The temp gauge read nothing (cold, like just turned on) but I had done a few miles by now.
Lifted the bonnet and the engine didn't feel any hotter than usual.

Came out the shops, started her up and everything was normal.
The temp gauge slowly crept up to the middle and stayed there.
The fans didn't come on.

Any ideas?

Bad connection on the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) for short.
It the engine ECU can't identify the engine temperature, it puts the fans on as a fail safe.
Check the contacts on the CTS.

Did you notice any time missing - half hour trip took three days?
Any strange marks, bruises, sunburn or headaches?
Unusual dreams or feelings of de ja vue?
Anything strange with the car, flashing lights, cutting out, static on radio, scorched paintwork?
Sore rectum?

Now you say it, my man hole is a bit raw!

Btw where is this CTS located?

Aaahhh!
