Does that just regulate the charge voltage to approx 14v but the little one behind behind the dash drops the 12v to 10v just for the fuel,and temp gauges to read accurate
Dont honestly kmow but alternator vehicles dont use the old regulator, charge goes to battery and fuse box.
 
Are you thinking of the old black box affair on bulkhead

Had the same problem yesterday. Checked the thermostat all ok. Refitted everything and bled the heater box. Took about 3 mins until the water started dribbling out of the pipe. It then started gushing out. Problem solved. Bad airlock. Temp now fine.
Worth a try.
