i haven’t touched mine since the winter. It’s at my mums, so I haven’t been there coz of Lockdown. Hope to get some work done after August.
 
Mines is on stop at present started a new job for 4x4 specialist in land rovers I'm a gluten for punishment haha, got weekends but weather here is crap did pick another chassis up a few weeks ago very cheap to cut and use for likes of outriggers and boot floor supports though come with axles gearbox/transfer box all for 200 couldn't say no

the 200? I’ve been watching if so! I covered all that in horrible under seal stuff today. It’s gunna get wood ontop anyway.
I got a full day on it tomorrow I’m not decided on what but I may attack the box section sills and cut out the old stuck on inner sill and clean all up along with inner b pillar. I was looking over a few old bits of work today and not totally happy with them. Couple really proud welds on chassis etc. Think I’ll revisit at some point. Also need to go across all underside boot and clean and seal. Got an inner wing under kitchen table too
 
A day spend undoing bodges and ****. Do many cutting discs used!
In a nutshell, the po pigeon ****ted the inner sills to the box section. Box section wasn’t painted before this was done and the whole lot is so untidy.
Think I’m going to replace inner sills with a bit of angle as everything now sits too high to go straight onto the box. Not sure? @dieseldog69 what you think - spot straight onto the top of the box? It’s about 3-4mm lower In height than where the floor edge should actually be...
Will take circa 2 days per side so worth doing I think.

The floor is a progressive taper down from the tunnel to the door lip.

I spotted mine through the top and seam welded underneath in the 3mm gap to close it up, wasn't too worried as it was getting seam sealed and painted afterwards.

Had I been replacing the floor sections then I would have just butted them to the inner edge of the box and seam welded them from above and seam sealed below.

cheers mate, I’ll go with that as cleaned up top of box nicely and ripping off inner sills. I can melt it in on a high heat with the box as the base metal too
 
Yes, but you must fix the pillar in place before you cut through it with a 9!

Something like this, I still have this piece of "C" channel from when I first thought of it, great tool, tack it in place and cut through the door post with confidence in it not moving out of line or dropping at all. if the floor is bad repair that first ;)

I’ve Sussed it. I tell you what, I’d feel sorry for myself if I didn’t watch other threads like borders. I have very little motivation to build this thing right now. I hope it comes back.
I got half way through and realized I had an os repair kit rather than ns. Oops.

Morning.

Firstly, I hope you all keep yourself sane during the next lockdown. I have had some busy times both with house and life and also my 90 daily! I haven’t bothered documenting that but may do one day.
Anyway, I recommenced with the poorly pickup yesterday and will be moving my d1 under the dry so I’m now hoping to progress on both over the winter.

A bit of rain and wind protection and the fact I don’t have to watch the noise or feel bad for the noise is a winner! And, I have a drive again!!!
Got a fair bit of welding left on the defender and a chunk on the disco but not loooooaaads.
I’ve got the compressor now set up properly (thanks again!) and have a needle gun and a spray set up. I’ve used lidl metal paint as sacrificial on the defender. Plan is, once welding on chassis is complete, I’ll needle gun the lot and spray it in one swoop rather than setting up just to paint a patch.
My life seems to have been taken over by these things but i guess that’s better than sitting around lonely during lockdown eh!

Was planning to crack on with the d1 but left the pillar bits at home!
Instead, like a jigsaw, I rebuilt a rot free Cross member and tank cradle hanger. The hanger had rusted out right above the bolt holes so I carefully chopped out the flat and welded a 2mm block in the u. Also re did the front and cut some rot and patched on the main chassis itself where it joins the member. Turned out quite nice.
An intimidating bit of work conquered :)

Glad to see this is still plodding along and I bet that the move to the shed is a good motivation boost over the drive way now that it’s getting colder and darker early! How much do you recon you have left to do now? I keep telling myself I’m over half way and just have the one side left but I’m falling into the trap of adding more to the list as fast as I tick it off.

Defender 110 has a fair amount but nice engine. Chassis has maybe 3 days on it. Disco chassis is complete, rear is complete, now on front foot wells, bulkhead, pillars, wings and front end mounts. There’s a few bits I don’t like on disco, floor mainly - I should’ve just gone factory floor but never mind. It works and is solid so.
Rear axle is also all built up on disco. Haven’t checked swivels etc on front properly but likely! The mechanical stuff doesn’t bother me or take time. It’s all the bloody fab work! I wouldn’t do another d1 like this nor a defender chassis like the 110. Too much time. I could buy a really nice d1 for 5k and I’ll spend over that on mine!
