I cut 90% of it all away and left enough to locate the box and weld it in, but I have cut it all away and welded in the mounts on spacer plates to get them in the right place.

I think that the fella who welded up your motor was paid on day work and dragged it out as long as he could, either that or he just had no idea what he was doing LOL.

I am going to do bulk cuts on the passenger side and gut the whole lot out, slot the box in and weld it up to the door posts and then plate the floor back in.

Oh sorry yes I did same re spacer plate
 
You’ll all think I’m sad but attention to detail matters and I like getting bits cleaned up. I’m noticing that there’s a fair bit of cream trim which means I may not need to color my new seats :cool:
I still won’t be putting carpet in - probably raptor as flooring with some mats on top. It’s a while off but it’s more off the list. Took the sag out of the overhead cargo pockets by moving crimp down.

You are proper getting back into this project now :)

I can sense it, you seem much happier and are tackling and sorting out a few jobs that need done as well as having the next stages planned out.

Thanks guys. Yes I’m back into it as it’s not such a chore now. Welding up that chassis wasnt much fun. I just hope I’ve built it strong enough to be safe and last!
The interior was just covered in mould and there’s a big parts bin inside that I work through when doing dinner etc. I love beige interiors. My last bm had one and it was such a nice place to sit. That’s probably the only thing I’ve got lucky with is that I have a beige dash lol
 
change the prop and diff flange for a 200TDi one.

Your right. I've just checked and a GKN coupling is costly for a bit of rubber. No point if its not going to last. If it wasn't lifted I would be seems dumb to buy. I have seen second hand diff flange and prop but ideally wanted a new one. Only thing I can find OEM is britpart which I don't want. I thought I was ordering a HS one but when I went to checkout it still says Britpart..

Thank you. I'll risk it then. I think a GKN coupler is best part of 50 quid so that's a stupid buy if I'm going to rip them. I inspected the donut on there and its torn. Its wrong application isn't it if lifted. Do I need a spacer?

Got a 200tdi prop with diff flange second hand. If flange is no good I'll get a new one. Also ordered a genuine diff seal. New piston kit (correct length this time) en route for the rear calipers where I installed front pistons into rear :rolleyes:
Also got donated some sheet to carry on with the boot and floor.
Hoping to get brakes bled and leak free next weekend as parts should arrive next week.
Should be moveable then :D

Next items on list are:

Continue with my rear door build
rear brakes and brake bleed
200tdi prop and diff flange install
pillar repairs
floor repairs
cut away old sills and clean floor/box joints up

I am going to do the boot floor without a kit now. I am going to sheet it up to a point then bolt in the centre piece so I can still access bits. DD didn't you find some sealed nuts to do this?
