You're engine bey were minging, needed a good dousing in Gunk Ultra and scrubbed to within an inch of it's life LOL

Dash came up nice, how bad is the extra rot spots you found?.

You still have quite a bit to do but you're doing sterling work mate, keep it up :)

Cheers. Well put it like this I need one of your pillar holder jigs. One a gone, one b gone and I’m going to redo the floor edges as don’t like the way it’s been done. 2 x front mounts, two inner wings think the nasty bits in windscreen corner are good enough to stay but will dig them a bit further

Got these for 40 quid from a v50 t5. Wanted e46 seats but these were a steal. They will be dyed to match.

It's just some 3mm C channel that came off some old stables I was dismantling ;)

Holy heck that's a lot of work :eek::eek:

On top of what you've already done there isn't going to be much left of this thing you haven't rebuilt :eek::eek:

Very little mate. I’ve even done those bits in rear of the roof lol. Looks like I may need a new steering box too. I don’t understand the floor. They’ve have a section of 1.5mm thick angle that’s probably 4 inches flush on floor pan and a few inches on inside of sill. I hope this makes sense.
This is a mess on mine. I want to chop out the sheet angle away from the inner box, grind down and clean box, weld in chunks of 3mm angle at intervals down the inside of the box rather than traditional floor supports, then just lay my sheet over the top of this new construction. This make sense? I’ll do a sketch on my tablet tomorrow to show

Yeah please - pm me when you can do as I’m only about at weekends now. I can literally point at what I mean then haha

This is what I meant!!! This is a picture from
Chrisw8 thread when his box sills didn’t fit. You see how there’s angle sheet to inner box then the main sheet goes over top to be puddle welded and meet door seals etc? I want to do away with that angled bit as it’s all sh!tty and just stagger angled sections of 3mm down the inside of the box section to reinforce floor

The sills are made out of two pieces and the inner angle you see on yours is the remnants of the old inner sill panel, yes you can just cut it away and lay a new piece of steel straight on top of it and either puddle weld it in or seam weld it in.

There is also another piece of angle about 3 or 4 inches in from the inner sill that the rear brake line and fuel lines are clipped to.

exactly... and much better put than I could.
If yu look at the old floor/sill section i have, and Tufftee, you would see exactly how it goes.

Aha which is why the floor support is still welded to the crispy stuff. Why the **** can’t people just do a full ****ing job for **** sake?!!! An hour make to cut away that ****ty sill and do a nice job?! These bodges are ridiculous.
So the remains of the inner sill are pigeon sh!t welded to the box. The pillars are also pigeon sh1t welded to it. Can someone on this forum finish my motor when I’m dead please?

I cut 90% of it all away and left enough to locate the box and weld it in, but I have cut it all away and welded in the mounts on spacer plates to get them in the right place.

I think that the fella who welded up your motor was paid on day work and dragged it out as long as he could, either that or he just had no idea what he was doing LOL.

I am going to do bulk cuts on the passenger side and gut the whole lot out, slot the box in and weld it up to the door posts and then plate the floor back in.

The floor reinforcement brackets? I think the guy who welded up my car is a **** lol
