Bin following this from the beginning I nearly fell of my chair when I saw you were thinking of giving up after all your hard work, I did that with my last series sold it then regretted it so bought this one when it appeared at the right price, only downfall was I had to sell my classic as I could not afford to run all three.
Keep your chin up as you have been an inspiration to allot of people on hear and its been an education as-well.
On the note off engines there is a bloke just outside of Plymouth (His company is called Relentless Rovers) that does repairs and engine transplants he may have an engine going spare in his yard, if youre interested and I can find his number I will pm it to you.

Omg Jared! I lost track of this build and just read about you almost giving up! Don't do it buddy, as has been mentioned already, you've come so far and the work you've done and has been inspirational and educational. Keep going dude! :)

Thanks for all the kind words guys - can't believe i was that down on the whole thing !
Now, thanks to the awesomeness that is Max (Pornstarmax) I now have a sexy, sweet sounding, clean 2.25 Petrol lump strapped to my gearbox ! :D:D:D

So in true rhino fashion... i got home, and jumped on the replacement straight away

After it was in ( took a while as the ruddy gearbox had dropped) all it took to get going and running sweet was a solenoid, a coil, some (overpriced) petrol, and a bit of carb fettling. Swapped on my new waterpump, and the spin off oil filter plate adaptor.

Some pics and some body progress, too. Also noticed a bloody driverside lean, which has shown up since the dumb irons were replaced. they're nice and level, so suspect me farting with the springs and freeing them up has shown up how borked they are.

I was going to fit parabolics, but TBH, i'll stick with new OEMs for now :D

Seeing as i'm junking the fubar'd doozil lump, which i'm convinced needs to be re-bored with new pistons etc - does anybody want 1st dibs on the following? :

Head - not warped and has new valves.
Crank (5 brg)
Injector pump ( i believe it's been reconditioned as seals and internals look really clean - not the usual rust or colour of an old pump)
Spare Injector pump - I know it works, but it's not new, and hasn't been reconditioned as far as I can tell
Injectors x 4 ( brand spanking only used for testing)
Diesel downpipe
New lift pump
PTO manual speed control inlet butterfly assy (the part on the inlet manifold)

Nice to see your back on form, I personally prefer the petrol to the diesel and found it to be a little better on fuel (But only my opinion / experience).

Keep up the good work

:D:D:);):D

Looking more like a landy every time I go out there, now ! hate that lean - since i've freed up the ceased shackles, it's revealed a fooked spring (or two)......

managed to find a complete petrol linkage kit on ebay from a really nice chap who bent over backwards to help :D :D .... if your junking a petrol lump, make sure u save the linkages ;)

Still lots of niggly things to take care of, though.
Since I've fitted defender door seals instead of the series ones, the doors close and seal too well, and the latches go too far back, meaning i have to relocate the striker plates.

.....the lower OEM door seals don't let the doors close properly, they're too rigid - so i'll have to find a solution for that, aswell.

I need to figure out a wading capable airfilter setup for the new engine.
Door window frames need to be replaced.
Need new springs.
Lights, light bowls (rotted to fook), carpets, seats etc.

looking good mate, wont be long before your down them lanes showing off to the dazzled onlookers....

Been quiet lately - cos i've been in the workshop working my arse off.

All the electrics are now sorted, inc a new set of plastic headlight bowls cos the steel ones were, well...****ed..also decided to fit the wipac units instead of junking them for some sealed units.

New mudguard panels - had to fit new ali mounts on the wings as they were rotted out.. not easy as the panels were pattern parts and didn't quite fit properly.

New seatbelts ordered.

Everythings painted at long last...with just enough left for touch ups.

Annoyingly, the driver side dumbiron is a twidge too high, making the wing foul a little on the bumper. ****ed off about that - bugger all i can do about it now though.

Fitted the choke cable, fitted the floors, tunnel, gaiters and bonnet strip.

these ones are utterly borked dude - not safe to be on the truck TBH. I chipped some rust off one earlier and the tyre deflated !

Not surprised, really - this poor thing was an accident waiting to happen before I got my hands on it...

just got a mad idea to build a series landy without me missus knowing by getting the parts one at a time minting them and stashing them in the house such as the loft where she never goes useing this song as inspiration YouTube - ‪1961 Biarritz Johnny Cash "One Piece at a Time"‬‏:D:D

its all coming together and looking good there, wont be long before all the diesel worries/pains will be behind you and you be out there on them open fields, when do you recon it will be finished.... MOT booked yet?
not much progress on mine, still taking paint and filler off my parts and undercoating so not much to take pictures of, will do some soon and post them up
