i know, i know Ive got a RR and not too sure about snow drivingbut i got a few questions
Is it best to leave the gearbox in std setting?
Is it better to drive on the compacted slush, or on the freshly laid snow?
Any other tips greatly appreciated guys
stay in High range and use difflock (do RR haave difflocks
) on ice or snow. drive in the fresh stuff as it won't have had time to freeze. and remember even 4x4 can slide on ice.

Remember, stopping 2.5 tonnes on ice takes a long time with or without 4 wheel drive, use the gear selector to select lower gears to provide engine braking when slowing down or descending hills.

Of course they are, the 30 foot tree was only a bush when the highway inspector saw it three months ago. Who knows if someone has fed it illegally with a growth enhancer. Silly boy.
op2: Driving round Bstoke today - no probs in the slitty - but I reckon tyres are everything (AT2's) except!!!! a full four wheel drift
at the Winchester Road roundabout - which is on the main ring road and will be one of the best gritted (and most driven) bits in Bstoke.Apart from that - main prob is either peeps driving at 10MPH and generating LOOOONNNNG queues - or idiots in tricked up Discos and Deependers (and also to be honest other 4x4's) tanking it at 50 in the outside lane!

& how can you tell its bin fed with Growth Enhancer from a picture Further the tree planter is/was TOTALLY BLAMELESS coz he was away on holiday when this tree was inspected by the highways agency ...
what it really needs to sue the planter of the nearby trees who's seeds have obviouly blown nearer the road than is acceptable.
Its a disgrace that you mr Wammers having over 35 years experience have no knowledge of such complex matters such as TREE MOT regulations ....

To be fair, you have to demand menacingly to know where the tree is before you can declare it innocent of all involvement.

I'll have you know whilst i must admit i do not know a lot about tree MOTs i do have several trees in my garden and have had for a number of years. I was also told how to do a tree MOT by a certified tree MOT technician who had NVQs in it, so there. You know as well as i do it is down to the testers judgement. And let me also tell you that my mate who left his tap running and put the water on the road that caused the ice was on holiday at the time.

The Range will pull through almost anything, just keep the gas low, aim for fresh stuff - much grippier than compacted bits! Keep a good distance clear in front; I needed it a few times when idiot behind was tooooo close to stop!
As has been said, 4x4 is all about "drive", braking distances are at least TEN times on ice.....use engine braking first and well in advance, also use the selector to 2nd / 1st as you are stopping - far more effective at the right speed than braking!

Just on a serious note guys, a private hire driver told me to make sure to get all snow off roof and windows before driving as our local boys in blue (Merseyside) are handing out 6 points for the trouble of just leaving it on......could just be hear say but why tempt fate anyway????

same in Hants and Dorset - 6points and a £60 pound fine on being stopped. It also includes having clear lights anorl .
