Hi guys i am a newbie to these cars! just purchased my first one on tuesday of last week! :) its a defender 90 200tdi i am really enjoying the car but have got one niggle with the vehicle which has turned into a major problem and i am seeking some advice.

I bought the car knowing that the diesel cutoff solenoid needed replacing, now that its replaced its still playing up unfortunately! I have now been thinking that the wiring is now the issue, speaking to a few people they think the best solution is to replace the wiring and wire it to a kill switch instead of the ignition. If this is the best solution then how would i go about doing this.

If anyone has any thoughts let me know!

Cheers

the solenoid wasn't opening and closing and its still doing the same thing after replacing the solenoid so im thinking its a bad connection somewhere

easy enough to check solenoid ,just run a wire from battery to solenoid and touch the terminal a few times ensuring it allways click , wire or rely or switch can be cause too

so the electrical problem has been fixed but now the solenoid keeps working itself loose so the car wont switch off, obviously its in an awkward position and cant seen to get a ratchet on it, the spanner also only tightens it so far as well. i was thinking perhaps remove the fuel pump and put a new solenoid in with some thread lock to ensure it doesnt work itself free again? can anybody advise me on any solutions to my problem

cheers

a fair bit so that you can get enough to turn at least one flat ,just keep trying till youve got it right
