Hi all, I´m Javier Amor from Chile, after a few odd with my 2000 LR D2 Td5, I desice to keep it and do a preventive instead of a corrective mantainance. Now I´m asking for the SLS air compressor. My one does a funny noise regularry (not steady) and when I press the boton to lift the rear part of the LR the dash light flash orange and nothing happend.
Because I live in Chile, spareas are difficult to get, that´s why a prevently order a rebuilt kit from eBay - one of the UK's largest shopping destinations, does anyone know how to apply it, there´s anything else to care abaut the SLS

Thanks

Suspension Airbags replace when about 10 yesrs old they will fail soon and then fook the compressor
Airfilter behind rear light cluster (N/S in the UK)

Hi all, I just change the "piston ring kit" and ass suon I aply the SLS boton on the dasho board, the rear ends drops down and newer get leveled again. I diagnostic with my HAWKEYE and no fal apear?

Any help

Thanks

Further details:
1. I just did a diagnostic with the HAWKEYE and give me fault No. 4167 (historical w/car off abs current w/car on).
2. Under the chassis-ABS menu I have the following “live data”:
• SLS height right: 84 counts.
• SLS height left: 87 counts.
• SLS valve sup RR: 5,12 Volt
• SLS RR valve: 0 Volt.
• SLS valve sul LR:5,12 Volts
• SLS LR valve: 0 Volt.
• SLS Exhaust: = Volt
• SLS Compressor: 0,21 Volts

3. Under the chassis-ABS menu I have the following “Circuit Test”:
• SLS RR Vlave: Force Open (FO).
• SLS RR Valve: FO
• SLS Exhaust Valve : FO
• SLS Compressor Relay: FO (w/normal sound)
• SLS RR Height (84 count), sound but car rear ends still low.
• SLS LR Height (86 count), sound but car rear ends still low.

4. With the car on, I pressed the height boton on the dash board and the compressor stat working (sound present) and the yellow light start flashing, after more than one minute still flushing rear ends still 84/86 and nothing happened.

Because I just change the o-rings of the compressor, I guess ther-s some leaking somewhere, we will check that out tomorrow

Hi, take out the air supply pipe from the valve block then start the engine...the compressor must begin to run then.... put your finger on the pipe's end to see if there is enough pressure or not. IMO, if before that the car didnt drop just the compressor couldn lift the back to ORM height there are no leaks but the compressor doesnt have enough "guts".

About the hawkeye readings:

-the live datas are normal as long as the SLS rests

-those circuit tests are showing that the system management is working and even if the compressor's motor runs it doesnt supply enough pressure... the fact that u replaced some seals doesnt mean u fixed it...as i said make sure that when the compressor runs it actually pumps air with a proper pressure too(it must pump like a good quality tyre inflator)

as a matter of fact, afaik there are no SLS compressor rebuild kits just for RR EAS... show me please the link what kit did you buy

Dear Sierrafery, I could email you the info I have on the RB kit.

1. We just check and repaire the electric motor of the compressor, after dat.
2. the compresor runs but not lift the end compleatly (it goes from 66 count to 100 counts)

I will check the Air Suspension Height Sensor, it may be giving wrong instructions to the compressor ?

Anyway I´ll get some coil kit

Sorry I only speak spanish and english.

I thinnk after 385000 kms, my LR need a comleate rebuilt on the SLS. I´ll gett the coil kit, while I study and rebuuilt the SLS

Hi there Javier, with the SLS system, the very best thing to do is every 5 years, replace the air springs and ride height sensors with new ones.

Here's a few things to remember:

1. ALWAYS take off the battery earth lead BEFORE starting work on the system;

2. All doors must be closed and the engine running before the system will work correctly.

3. If the back end sinks and doesn't pump back up, get a jack under the car and jack it up to about normal height, before starting the engine, to operate the SLS.

4. Do remember that the button on the dashboard is to adjust the SLS height for off-road working - it is not there to pump up the system to normal operation.

Very extrange, today I saw the Air Suspension Height Sensor, move the land rover to the side´s and anfter 5 min driving, get the right hight (140 counts), for 8 hrs, now it´s down again.

I think the probles is because the SLS compressor is getting the wrong signal when to stop and start, I´ll the both (Air Suspension Height Sensor), clean them and see wha happend

IMO after 385.000 km u can replace both bags and height sensors without remorse... and that will fix it

Ditto with Fery.

And just to add - I would strongly advise that you get the Contitech air springs not the Dunlop ones. Contitech are the Original Equipment supplier.

Great information, as I told I will put the coils for a few month, the I have a few questions:

1. What do I do with the SLS sys after temporary instal the coils?
2. Where do you get the Contitech air springs?

Thnks

1. Use your Hawkeye to tell the cars' electronic systems that it is now on coil springs.

2. Do a Google search for for Contitech air springs for Discovery II.

Sorry my ignorance, could you explain me how to use my Hawkeye to tell the cars' electronic systems that it is now on coil springs. I mean I went to chassis, then air suspension, then ...?

go further in programming untill u find options sls - yes/no or sls/coils and set it on no SLS or coils...i dunno how exactly hawkeye has the settings here...u must find it

OK, very usefull.domeone know about HAWKEYE (ther´s no user manual?), what does the 4167 "event ON-Duration compressor" fault means ?
