Ive known plenty of people just like that over the years, best to pretend you are an office wallah that way you have nothing they want.
it works both ways
there has been times I have not had the time ....so I ask a office jocky to send an email or fax ..if I get any **** ..watch them change a tyre on there own
the time watching them I could of been doing my own stuff

You could try painting a go faster stripe on the side of the hose.

I've got at 2 red silicone joints and I've painted the intercooler pipes black - bound to be good for 100mph :) intercooler pipes.jpg

I was in Miami for the holidays, had 2 inch 4 ply black silicone hoses mailed to my hotel. IMO, the silicone hoses are better in a few ways, does not swell, easier to clean and if getting oil blow by, its more resilient to being oil soaked.
I always use T bolt clamps for all my silicone hose fitment.

will have to disagree
curtain silicon hoses are made for one desired job
for example a coolant silicon hose if made for coolant not oil and vise versa the reason we install Viton orings on curtain jobs

depending on quality silicone boost hose may be graded high strength long lasting and durability against oils

the silicon in question may with stand some heat and high pressures but not oil
there are many different grades involved and if he has purchased them from china well good luck

You seem to have some contradiction in your posts. You also seem to be bringing in quality which wasn't the question. Crap quality is crap quality everywhere..... Claiming they are high maintenance, do me a favour.

no contradiction as I mentioned in my fist reply .....some silicon hoses wont deterate as quick

yes your correct quality wasn't part of the question

he has just purchased silicone hoses that proply said he would gain power on the packet but what grade is this silicone

I thought an awesome upgrade to look cool or a cleaner look .I added in blue coolant silicone hose from rocker cover breather at first it looked cool ..well it did at first .........until it started to make a mess

so please DO ME FAVOUR

ps have you been told yet ???

We were talking FI hoses so with certainty, it was about turbo hoses in this case. I cant see the OP asking about a "high performance silicone hose" for coolant, fuel or oil. I was referring to the difference between using the stock rubber FI hoses as opposed to silicone...and yes good quality silicone hoses further being emphasized by mentioning 4 ply.

The good quality FI silicone hoses (all we ever used) are resilient to oil, coolant and fuel. Most silicone hoses are inherently resilient to oil and other consumable fluids.
The OP question is "Have any you you splendid fellows fitted the high performance silicone pipes? I recently bought a set for my Td5 and am interested to know if there is likely to be any noticeable benefit."

I based my opinion on the experience attained from owning and operating a Euro Performance/race shop for, mostly FI for over 15 years.
Yes China do make inferior parts, they also make good parts too, hence Tier 1, 2 and 3 quality for manufacturers in the automotive industry. You do realize that most of what you buy and use is made in China.

UK makes great products...they do make bad ones too, so do many other developed countries.

Good evening Mr Barbados

I didn't think that I was going to get such a response from some members, clearly you understud my question. And, thank you for your answer. I did buy from a reputable supplier and can only hope that the product is as good as the supplier suggested.

At the end of the day I am replacing a seventeen year hose with an upgraded component. The existing black hose is soft and I suspect that it might be underperforming under pressure. If I do notice an improvement all well and good, if not it's not going to be the countdown to Armageddon !

Thanks Alan for the kind words..I dont know everything but I try to help...we will never know everything. I do try to stay on topic, so many threads deviate from the OPs question and the thread becomes useless...not saying that about here.

Any flexible material will deteriorate over time, forced induced hoses do perish over time. I know exactly what you meant since I have had an 89 defender station wagon and now my 97 which I stripped naked and rebuilding, both had perished hoses.

Happy to help and thanks for the kind words again.

I also base my experience because I also work in a high performance most of my work is based on road trains that's cost more than the average house
I have also come across perish hoses allot as when there working underload they see allot more heat than the average car or 4wd

how ever the road trains I work on come from factory with silicon hoses ..they also have ribbed hoses and in-between these ribs is steal rings for added strength and allows for more flex when the engine is under load and they will still blow or deterate just as quick as a normal rubber braded hose and these are purchased genuine just in a different package via china

however I have seen perished hoses last longer than a new hose and changing these hoses to new hoses there is no boost gains via dash gauge or laptop readings

getting back to the original post given the age of the vehicle I would be focusing on cooling hoses and oil pipes like the turbo oil drain ...when these fail its classed as a break down and maybe a tow job home

a boost hose failing on the side of the road can still limp home

as we all know silicone hoses come floppy when warm this is when plys are added so when the slicon hose reaches under bonnet temps it doesn't bellow as much ..the grade of the silicon come to play did they use heater hose grade silicon to make boost pipes we don't know

Interesting points Mr Ozzyboydeano. Sorry for the late response but I do appreciate the serious nature of your comments.
