I've got at 2 red silicone joints and I've painted the intercooler pipes black - bound to be good for 100mph View attachment 116069

I was in Miami for the holidays, had 2 inch 4 ply black silicone hoses mailed to my hotel. IMO, the silicone hoses are better in a few ways, does not swell, easier to clean and if getting oil blow by, its more resilient to being oil soaked.
I always use T bolt clamps for all my silicone hose fitment.
You seem to have some contradiction in your posts. You also seem to be bringing in quality which wasn't the question. Crap quality is crap quality everywhere..... Claiming they are high maintenance, do me a favour.will have to disagree
curtain silicon hoses are made for one desired job
for example a coolant silicon hose if made for coolant not oil and vise versa the reason we install Viton orings on curtain jobs
depending on quality silicone boost hose may be graded high strength long lasting and durability against oils
the silicon in question may with stand some heat and high pressures but not oil
there are many different grades involved and if he has purchased them from china well good luck
no contradiction as I mentioned in my fist reply .....some silicon hoses wont deterate as quickYou seem to have some contradiction in your posts. Good evening Mr Barbados
I didn't think that I was going to get such a response from some members, clearly you understud my question. And, thank you for your answer. I did buy from a reputable supplier and can only hope that the product is as good as the supplier suggested.
At the end of the day I am replacing a seventeen year hose with an upgraded component. The existing black hose is soft and I suspect that it might be underperforming under pressure. If I do notice an improvement all well and good, if not it's not going to be the countdown to Armageddon !
I also base my experience because I also work in a high performance most of my work is based on road trains that's cost more than the average houseWe were talking FI hoses so with certainty, it was about turbo hoses in this case. I cant see the OP asking about a "high performance silicone hose" for coolant, fuel or oil. I was referring to the difference between using the stock rubber FI hoses as opposed to silicone...and yes good quality silicone hoses further being emphasized by mentioning 4 ply.
The good quality FI silicone hoses (all we ever used) are resilient to oil, coolant and fuel. Most silicone hoses are inherently resilient to oil and other consumable fluids.
The OP question is "Have any you you splendid fellows fitted the high performance silicone pipes? I recently bought a set for my Td5 and am interested to know if there is likely to be any noticeable benefit."
I based my opinion on the experience attained from owning and operating a Euro Performance/race shop for, mostly FI for over 15 years.
Yes China do make inferior parts, they also make good parts too, hence Tier 1, 2 and 3 quality for manufacturers in the automotive industry. You do realize that most of what you buy and use is made in China.
UK makes great products...they do make bad ones too, so do many other developed countries.
