Good question. Freelander's are surprisingly capable oft road despite the bad rep we get. Ground clearance can be a bit of a problem sometimes so you have to choose your route carefully. Those with traction control fitted are betterer oft road as they can abs pulse brake spinning wheels. Hence the odd wheel in the air isn't too much of a problem. Power can then be fed into the wheels with grip. So that sort of makes up for having less wheel articulation. Freelander's are lighter too so that helps. The main problem we have is deep ruts. If your lucky you can pick your own route and avoid them or straddle them. Always cross them diagonal with only 1 wheel in the rut at a time is another trick. not having a low box can be a problem as you can't increase the revs without keeping the speed down. Slipping a manual clutch will soon overheat it. Having an auto sort of cures this problem.

Nice. Everything running ok? Got the vcu oft mine at the moment. Got the bearings oft yesterday and they're still in good nick as they int done many miles. Probably about 10k at more. Got others to check them at work and they think they're like new. Pays to get proper ones. ;)

adds to the driving experience, freelanders have to tactically place their wheels to traverse some really deep, high, rocky bits.

alls well (touch wood) she's running better than ever :)

a good set of bearings is well worth the extra cost and effort tracking them down ;)

is the vcu toast?
