Front light panels offered up to the inner wings, long awaited order from JC cancelled but Paddocks has some in stock thankfully. A bit of fetteling required (hammer and tong!) but very pleased with the outcome. Have bolted the top section together left the original spot weld marks on the inner rad panels and plan to use sodul car bond to adhere, will look original but 10x stronger!
As I’ve sent the outer wings for paint I’ll wait until I get them back and offer them up for a fitting before bonding the light panel, just in case there some adjustments required.

Cant believe that I started bashing out the wings back in October (the 16th to be precise) and I’m still at it ! Anyone thinking of restoring a landy for f&@ks sake dont set a time limit ! Double the time that’s spent on the mechanics to do the body work but half the cost …that if your using as much of the original as possible.

Spent a few hours today fitting up the rear end using self tapping screws prior to riveting and panel bonding.
The new end panels weren’t that great but managed to cut out the uprights either side of the rear door and weld in the old thicker ones.
Will wait for the panel bond to set before I flip it over to stich weld the floor ribs into place

Stich welded the floor to the sides and the ribs and the floor. DA’d the new ally to key for epoxy primer.
Some filler to flatten out a few dents on the bulk head. Run out of ali mig wire to finish but coming along nicely.

Todays fettelings, consisted of some fillering as more dents had appeared overnight or I could have just missed them yesterday. Cleaning the galv drips / snot with a very worn flap disk off the capings, aligning then back onto the body and pre drilling for pop rivets once the tub is painted. Some small tweaks required to the drivers rear corner (previous life battle scar) but all told I’m extremely pleased with the results.

Little progress today, filled the diffs with ep90 (1.7lt) filled the front swivel casings with swivel oil (top tip place the packs in warm water first, easy squeezey)
Fitted the bonnet cloth seal, alignment done on front wheels and all the steering rod end clamps tightened up. Offered up the grill to see what it looks like. Wont fully secure until the wings and headlamps are in as I’ll need access to the electrical connections.
Finished the day sanding then polishing the rear badge then painting with gloss black paint.

Cross members temporarily attached to the body with self tappers. Then the body was offered onto the chassis for first fit. The only tweak required was that the 5mm rubber pads weren’t thick enough, so took them off and made 10mm ones.

Seam sealed all the underside floor, sides and stiffening ribs then stone chil GraviTex the underside of the rear tub and inner arches, 2 coats of etch primer with some wet and dry in between now its ready for some marine blue.

Next job is to spray the underside of the rear tub marine blue (will do this at home in the garage) then rivet the galv support members in place, this way the rivet heads on the inside of the tub will be painted by the paint shop once the tub is flipped over.
Does anyone have knowledge of windows ? I want to re use the originals but one sliding pane has a small glass block attached to it (to hold when sliding) and the other side hasn’t? I take it one may be of an early series?

The glass block on mine was missing so I found a piece of glass same size cut it on my tile cutter machine and used some araldite epoxy for glass stuff.

Underside of the rear tub painted (outside in the garden as it’s such a nice day).
Cross members riveted into place. Ready now for the paint shop to give the final outer paint finish.
I’m not going to attempt a garden spray job as I’m sure it would be difficult to polish out fly’s and grass ! Haha
