Hi Chap,

well done for what you have done. I have spotted a problem (if the pic shows what I think...

The rod from the wiper motor appears to go above both wheel boxes - this is wrong. It need to go over the NS one and under the OS one to ensure that the wipers go in opposite directions - otherwise they will both wipe the same way.

Also, for info, you have said that this is a 2nd hand chassis. This is illegal unless you are using the donor ID and reg plate. Now you will probably get away with it, but legally in order to retain your ID you are able to replace with a brand new chassis and have a receipt showing it.

Good luck and well done.

Protactor is quite correct in that your Landy should be on the original chassis ID or even a Q plate. However on a vehicle as old as this, as long as the front offside dumbiron has been replaced i.e. the chassis number has disappeared, who will know or more importantly who can prove otherwise.

So don't worry about it, just be careful who knows what about your Landy, especially those in authority. Don't go bragging at the MOT station etc.

Make sure you keep all the receipts for the parts you use just in case anyone asks questions (lose the chassis receipt if you have one)

Anyway never mind all the tedious, official administration stuff, keep up the good work it's nice to see an old 'un being brought back to life by a young 'un.

haha yes ive just noticed that, i did wonder why it didnt fit very nice :D

and yes i know there are issues with all of the registration stuff, im using the original reg number but even the old chassis didnt have an ID so either way :)

does that mean there are thousands of land rovers driving around illegaly but un-noticed? i mean this is the third one ive done to date and all of them have been on second hand galv chassis's:D

and thanks for the pointer could of put all of that dash together and then realised! :D

Yep tons are in error using illegal ID. tbh many are just innocent mistakes (but I guess that makes no difference in the eyes of the law), but many are deliberate.

Glad to help over the wiper cable, yep, would have been a nightmare to sort out later!

Good luck with the rest of the build.

looks like you got a mint finish on those wings mate did you use a roller or spray it in the end

yer you wait until there is an up close shot!
i did it with a brush in the end, looked great but it was a bit cold and so itwrinkled in places, i have put it on very thick though so my plan is, once it bakes in the summer i will rub it down a little and polish just to get rid of them

i am going to use the roller for the tub though, it does look good though :D

not done much to the landy this week, had a load of exams etc

but have had a few hours to tinker this weekend

stripped the tub ready for some bashing, filler and paint
did a bit more work on the dash and wiring
put the vent seals and panels on

i havnt got any pics of this (camera died) but i did a bit more painting panels
put the lights in the drivers wing, and they worked first time!!

few pics (will get some more tommorow)
