between 1st and 2nd
is it the yellow bit in the middle?Apologies, but which is the syncro hub?
I'll have a look and hopefully get it apart tomorrow.between 1st and 2nd
and what do you use to get it out?from the front backwards
Right, i'll get on that tomorrow.a long punch and lump hammer
Have you removed the transfer case?
Shaft can then be seen from rear.
That's a good suggestion actually... I'll try get summet to warm it upWarm the alloy casing and it will come out easier.
Okay, will have to get permission from me mum thenEasiest way to warm it up is to put it in the oven.
they come out cold easy enough they arent usually very tightOkay, will have to get permission from me mum then
I'll try cold and see how i do. How bout thatthey come out cold easy enough they arent usually very tight
the rear layshaft bearing is the same rtc1412, ,late suffix e s2 a boxes had synchro on 1st and 2nd and are the same as early s3 suffix a , later boxes have 2 holes drilled in rear so you can knock race out earlier didnt you either drill one of your own (ensuring gasket covers it or use a slide hammer ,Have i got a s2 box? i don't think so because there looks to be syncros on 1st and 2nd but the rear layshaft bearing on mine looks to be the one on paddockspares from the series 2a section. The series 3 one looks to have a race around it or is an entirely different bearing. Had someone put a 2a bearing in it or what? is that even possible?
I see, so series 2a boxes HAD synchro but only on 1st and 2nd? And i just got the inner bearing race off the layshaft and punched the outer race out the casing, it has 2 holes in the back so it is a s3 box.the rear layshaft bearing is the same rtc1412, ,late suffix e s2 a boxes had synchro on 1st and 2nd and are the same as early s3 suffix a , later boxes have 2 holes drilled in rear so you can knock race out earlier didnt you either drill one of your own (ensuring gasket covers it or use a slide hammer ,
theyy allways had 3rd and 4th synchro ,added 1st and 2nd with the suffix e 2aI see, so series 2a boxes HAD synchro but only on 1st and 2nd? And i just got the inner bearing race off the layshaft and punched the outer race out the casing, it has 2 holes in the back so it is a s3 box.
