Mines got a great one at the moment.
Take the handbrake off and the engine cuts out (bad earth).
Though it did get me thinking, I wonder if somthing similar could be fitted in to prevent theft make it look like engine trouble.
Like taking the handbreak off, though not the best since you can drive on it. Maybe theres somthing here!
It would be good to get some weighting behind the stats, as it seems pretty random.
An anonymous poll of what we all have fitted would achieve this by comparing percentages.
For example these are percentages of vehicles actually stolen (made up stats):
60% have no extra
20% use a steering lock
15% have an engine kill switch
5% have two devises fitted
But a poll of what security our forum users have, reveals (again, made up):
40% have none
40% have a two devises fitted
10% have a steering lock
10% have engine kill switch
So according to this made up poll, you'd be daft having nothing, and very wise have two. Obvious you may say, but a real poll is likely to reveal one type of devise (eg Disklok or ClutchClaw) is better than the other etc etc, and just how effective two devises actually is - there might be a very small difference.
What do you guys reckon?

Get it sorted before your landy goes up in flames.. Mate had a disco that was usuing the handbrake cable as an earth lead. I spent a full day cutting out the burnt wiring and splicing in new ones.
Ive got a Disklok fitted + TD5 immobiliser
Though fitting one of those X-Eng Pedal boxes and dead locks all round.
Ripped off my door handle the other day by accident made me realise how bloody easy it is to break into a defender with standard locks fitted.
Also looking into a fuel cut off.
I understand.
What about a poll of attempted thefts - that might give a better picture of what devices are more effective than others?
Just a thought - ultimately we all know that if they want it badly enough they will take it one way or another!

On the hiab issue tilt sensor alarms would be a decent deterrent.
What I did wonder and it may well be stupid is how difficult would be to modifiy the car to use modern Range Rover/Disco 3/4 keys? If its even worth doing..
Allways handy to have a crossbow or some thermobaric grenades...
