What security devices did you have fitted AT THE TIME YOUR LANDY WAS STOLEN?

Doing some work on the landy today and came across this beast of a unit. Does anyone have any experience with a Navtrak AEM 4000? Would love to get it working again somehow but can’t find any instructions online and the company appears to have gone under/been bought out.

l assume it's a tracking device? There's plenty of used ones for sale online but nobody actually revealed what it is.

lt's probably still working tbh. But was it connected to a central monitoring service?

Yeah it’s a tracker looks like it was bought out by cobra mad finally Vodafone. Firm what I can infer online it’s a subscription service about £10 a month back in the day. In all reality s sky tag probably offers much better value nowadays with modern technology, although I am interested in what Will French at LRD Security is coming up with soon, looks to be a very good spec list

I have been asked to fit a Proactrac tracker for someone. They're sold by the peeps who sold the Defender Defender trackers. Looks to be a revised product which will work on 4G. Wondering if anyone already has one?

Tracking devices are all similar, they'll all track your vehicle unless jammed.

Some tracking devices use alternative frequencies such as FM and are harder to disable.

The important thing is, to hide it somewhere it won't be found!

Did you install the ProacTrac? If so, how has the owner got on with it please?

Yes. It's an update to the older version they sold which was 2g. This new one is on 4g. Same company who did defender defender, gloucester lr main dealer. They're offering existing custoners a discount if they purchase the new unit. Seems to be working ok.

Thank you. Really sorry for my tardy reply. I’ve only just seen it. I know everyone is very cagey about revealing info about security devices. I’ve had problems with one particular aspect of ProacTrac. You can set it to send you text alerts or make your mobile ring for certain ‘events’……ie so you wake up in the night or hear the alert wherever you are, BEFORE your pride and joy is actually gone, unlike a pure tracker. These SMS/phone call functions didn’t work on one unit, right from installation. They worked on a replacement unit for a short while. Then they stopped and stayed stopped. Another owner’s unit stopped sending texts at precisely the same time. I can’t expect you tell me whether your owner is getting texts for what is for me personally, just about the most vital function of the ProacTrac. All I can really say is that the alerts on the App work so long as the app is left open. Anything set on SMS or CALL doesn’t work. I know of someone with the older Defender Defender who has never received a vibration alert. I have suggested to the company where the problem may lie, but in my personal opinion, they are less than helpful in this regard because my suggestion appears to be disregarded. This is my personal perceived experience and in no way infers that other clients receive anything other than superlative service.
I was hoping someone else on here might have one of these and would be prepared to share their experience with me.

The company, Defender Defender Ltd is separate from Gloucester LR (independent not a JLR main dealer).

I was hoping someone else on here might have one of these and would be prepared to swap notes. There is much to discuss that I don’t want to write in the public domain.
We can talk privately via pm. I have access to his online tracking account that works. Shows position etc. I will bug them if it doesn't provide the features they say it does. They took away email alerts from the def def unit which annoyed him as emails can automatically be forwarded to many other emails, unlike notifications on yer phone which thry claim replaces the need for email. I will get him to test battery disconnection to see if it rings his phone. I know they had loads of problems with the def def comms. Also position jumping around showing the tracker suddenly hundreds of miles away. Some owners refused to pay subscriptions. I didn't realuse they were independent. They paint a picture of being different. They don't seem to be able to update or correct their own web site. We will be asking for a full refund if it doesn't work and smalls claim court if they can't fix it. They ring a provider to ask them to control/update/enable etc on their behalf.

Or just Skytag and be done with it https://www.skytag-gps.co.uk/

They ain't perfect. The one me friend had would randomly stop working. Especially if you tried to track it on the web while moving. They can thenselves but they can reset the problem if it fails while they're tracking it. You can't. After refusing to continue the subscription and their threats because of this they cut it oft. Each month they send an email conformation the unit is working but dun't say when said test took place. So you can't argue with them when its intermittently working. Email conformation the unit was working continued after they cut it oft.

I'm very surprised your friend is having issues with the Skytag team. All of my calls/emails with the two main guys there have only comprised of first rate communication, service and support. They'll even set up manual remote ring fencing when travelling away with the Landy, and this extends to European coverage. For example when I'm in the Alpes with the Ninety. For the price of the monthly subscription it's excellent value for money.
