Hi HÃ¥kan from Sweden here. I am doing a nuts and bolts restoration of a S III, 1973, LHD, 88'

I have found almost everything. But the biggest headache is the choke assembly. Look at picture. I have a steering lock and LHD. So there is not more room for the regular round one. I really need this slim version.

I have tried the regular companies without any luck, you now. Craddock, paddock, Lrseries, Ebay etc.

Does anybody know the number of the item? Do you now where i can get it?

Thanks

First of all :welcome2: to the asylum!

Is it just the inner cable that has gone, or the sleeve as well?

Can you fit another cable to the existing assembly?

Both i am afraid. The plan is to grind down the round button to the correct size. But it's kind of boring on a car which otherwise are in museum standard.

And thanks for the welcome! :)

If you wish to retain the original lever, have you thought about cutting the cable where it enters the handle, drilling out the old one and soldering a new length into it?

The both the inner and sheath can be made from standard brake cable from a bicycle shop, as the spring return is at the carb end.

Did that on my Series I and used an elastic band for the spring ... but that's another story!! :D

If it's original parts you're after then try Dunsfold... I have included a link below, but I generally find it best to speak to them direct (ask for Nick) - prices are actually very good too

Dunsfold DLR

Great idea thanks! I will try that if i don't find any new solution.

Hmm i am maybe asking the companies in the wrong country. As i have understood it this is a choke assembly for LHD, SIII, with steering lock. I think RHD - steering lock version looks different.

Do you happen to know a company which is stocking a lot of SIII stuff in a LHD country? I guess US?
