how did u get on with ur hippo , surprising how well they do , i loved mine but just wished to step up , only restriction i found with the hippo was the ground clearance

great u had a good day
Really really well - I was very happy with it. The only difficulty encountered was, as you say, ground clearance. I managed to rip off the plastic section of the under-tray. Nuts. It sheared off from plastic brackets - which I presume are sacrificial? Time to replace it with some alloy plate I think. If this is a recurring theme, I may think about larger tyres and a lift kit...

Very good day out. I bottled out of the puddle in the video above then very stupidly followed him into a deeper one that came over the bonnet of the Disco!!! Got away with it by the skin of my teeth and will be adding a snorkel and breathers in the very near future!!!

Hope you Guys can see this.

Updated to include a few other sections.

Cheers

trouble is with an auto i can't keep up the revs for deep water

will just cheat and go round, lol

looking forward to the next trip

better make sure u check my tent , will be really good to also have a good evening and catching up with other members

have done all my breathers

but will just chicken out the deeper water ones

looked at some snorkels for mine and there around 4-500 quid , so will look out for a second hand one , but in the spring summer they should have dried up but hopefully the mud will still be there

be good to test out mine to see how it handles off road

I might be wrong, but... I thought with the Auto D3s you could lock them into low range 1st or 2nd?

So last weekend's trip went well... mostly on and around the ranges as Bulford was open, but we did head off around the Bourne Valley and Figheldean Down which, whilst within the SP Training Area is off the ranges and open 24/7
A couple of videos:

Neil wading (as shown in his video above) - the view from the shore

Front view of Rob's Freelander getting stuck

Early in the day, discovering that the D2's traction control (and rubbish tyres) could keep up with Neil's 90 on mud tyres!

The convoy fairly early on in the day - not looking *too* muddy yet

A spectacular view to end the day, parked up on a byway just off the A303 at Stonehenge, watching the mugs... sorry... tourists... who'd paid a fortune to use the park and ride and get a bit closer to the stones than we could get with our own cars for free

better hide the one where the hippo gets stuck

wonder how much rubber was left in the production of this video, lol

doubt i will do any better :D

I really enjoyed the day and want to do some more. But if ground clearance is going to cause more problems, I'll need to give some thought towards larger tyres and a lift kit...
