erm - wot i meant was leave the fan off if you are going to drive it through lots of water - like wales and salisbury and stuff.

but yes - replace the antifreeze at the same time, because yu then know its as it should be for winter.

it makes your engine get hot and blow head gaskets...

or...

it stops the fan throwing cold water all over your hot engine and cracking the lump...

Whilst I admire your attitude....:D

Firstly, I could be wrong - it's very difficult to diagnose this sort of problem remotely, so don't blame me if it's sommat else!

Secondly, replacing a water pump isn't really a job for a beginner - is there someone who could help you?
 
I'm tempted to whip mine off this afternoon and see how it goes, as all the edges have been cracked off as if they've hit something and it looks a tad off balance now.
