Sorry to say Pete but with a TD5 Yr buggered 5% max bio in yr tank accordin to Landrover themselves so I wouldnae risk it if I were you. Better to engine swap for 200tdi.so wots best stuff to run me td5 on then other then just over fookin priced derv
Why can't you run WVO without converting to Biodiesel. What your saying is, if I buy 300 litres of veg oil off the shelf, I can mix it into diesel in the tank and run happily. BUT! if I fry a few cod in it first! It won't work? Bollocks!
Surely it needs the bits filtering out and possibly checking for moisture content and your away? If its palm oil or something else a bit more viscous than Rape then it might need a bit more dilution but thats all.
all that making bio diesel does is reduce the viscosity by going from a tri- glyceride to a methyl or ethyl ester three molecules for the prcie of one.
My concern about Bio would be has the manufacturer cleaned it up properly as there will be gycerine, water and caustic soda to take out which may not do the pump seals any good.
On the subject of seals I used to work on ester development and seal testing was a big part of that. You should have seen some of the seal material after immersion in the esters.
Yea veg oil polymerises when you heat it and cool it a lot but that tends to stay in solution and the deisel will help with this. good filtering is surely all it needs. If it don't look wet then its probably OK.The gycerine is more likely in bio than WVO. How does transesterification remove polymers?
A cracked hydrocarbon gas, e.g., an effluent resulting from the pyrolytic conversion of a feed consisting essentially of ethane to form ethylene, is treated conventionally to produce a stream containing essentially ethylene which is treated with an alkali wash. The used waffle waffle waffle ................ the tendency of polymer-forming constituents to form polymer by simply removing the polymer-forming constituents. In a nutshell.
the cut n paste generation is alive and kicking
dunt matter does it?can't all pretent to be eggsperts can we!
a good googlin can to do wonders!

REMOVAL OF POLYMER FROM CRACKED GAS CAUSTIC WASHES OR CAUSTIC SOLUTIONS - Patent 3679765
haha...o sean ya do make us chuckle!you'll be fecked when they start charging you to use google

one of the issues i have noticed if that the polymers when extracted from the alkali wash arent allways in a usable liquid form - how would you suggest that this issue be overcome without having to resort to costly and wastefull separation processes ?
"us" ?
isn't it time you and your pretend friend went to bed ? - ah tis friday yer allowed to stay up late
but this is too much fun!

A unitary polysulfide polymer composition protected from moisture and capable ...................................... carbon atom and at least one RCOO-- group, wherein R is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group, bonded to the silicon atom. To coin a phrase
wow you really have got the hang of that cut n paste thing
lets see if i can remember how to do it ............
