Why can't you run WVO without converting to Biodiesel. What your saying is, if I buy 300 litres of veg oil off the shelf, I can mix it into diesel in the tank and run happily. BUT! if I fry a few cod in it first! It won't work? Bollocks!

Surely it needs the bits filtering out and possibly checking for moisture content and your away? If its palm oil or something else a bit more viscous than Rape then it might need a bit more dilution but thats all.

all that making bio diesel does is reduce the viscosity by going from a tri- glyceride to a methyl or ethyl ester three molecules for the prcie of one.
My concern about Bio would be has the manufacturer cleaned it up properly as there will be gycerine, water and caustic soda to take out which may not do the pump seals any good.
On the subject of seals I used to work on ester development and seal testing was a big part of that. You should have seen some of the seal material after immersion in the esters.

When you fry anything in oil,it does, nts really matter what it is.
The fact of the matter is the oil changes chemically into something different and the more you use it, the more the chemical composition changes.
Bolloxs does,nt change the fact that your Lift Pump,Injector Pump,Injectors,Deisel Filter,Oil Filter e.t.c. will fukup on unrefined w.v.o.

No matter what thoughts go through peoples minds, deisel engines do not like water, glycerine and cods fukin eds:) :) :) :)
I hope this helps

Yea veg oil polymerises when you heat it and cool it a lot but that tends to stay in solution and the deisel will help with this. good filtering is surely all it needs. If it don't look wet then its probably OK.The gycerine is more likely in bio than WVO. How does transesterification remove polymers?

A cracked hydrocarbon gas, e.g., an effluent resulting from the pyrolytic conversion of a feed consisting essentially of ethane to form ethylene, is treated conventionally to produce a stream containing essentially ethylene which is treated with an alkali wash. The used alkali containing solid and other polymer formed therein and polymer-forming constituents is periodically or continuously treated by contacting the same with a solvent, e.g., an aromatic, to remove said polymers and polymer forming constituents. The used solvent is treated by contact with an adsorbent, e.g., activated charcoal or carbon or functional equivalent, to remove from the solvent polymer and polymer-forming constituents, rendering the solvent suitable for reuse and avoiding ultimate plugging of pumps, pipes, heat exchangers and other equipment. Polymers removed from the alkali wash can be liquid but usually are substantially solid and are at least to a real extent insoluble in the alkali wash. Polymer-forming constituents usually will not be entirely dissolved in the alkali wash. By use of the adsorbent to remove polymer-formers, and polymers, the formation of polymers in the alkali wash is considerably reduced if not completely avoided. The treatment of the alkali wash and the solvent considerably reduces the growth of polymer initially, the treatment of solvent with the charcoal considerably reducing the tendency of polymer-forming constituents to form polymer by simply removing the polymer-forming constituents. In a nutshell.

I honestly know all that stuff i have studied it

Dyer think i could remember or make that **** up?????????

All i was tryin to do was give an answer to a serious question

one of the issues i have noticed if that the polymers when extracted from the alkali wash arent allways in a usable liquid form - how would you suggest that this issue be overcome without having to resort to costly and wastefull separation processes ?

yes...i totally agree...personally i feel there are no options other than costly and wasteful separation processes...how bout u VEGGIELANDEE?

A unitary polysulfide polymer composition protected from moisture and capable of being stored in a condition stable in a single container without undergoing curing and capable of being cured on contact with moisture in the atmosphere, said composition comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of a liquid polysulfide polymer, (b) a curing agent capable of being activated in the presence of an acid, and (c) 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of an organosilicon compound having at least one carbon atom and at least one RCOO-- group, wherein R is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group, bonded to the silicon atom. To coin a phrase

wow you really have got the hang of that cut n paste thing

lets see if i can remember how to do it ............
