Assuming with your dials and 2005 plate its a td6 or bmw 4.4i

When you have the battery off you should lock to lock the steering for the steering angle sensor,
You've more then likley got knackered abs ring or a bad abs sensor, or a wrong abs sensor,
It could be a front sensor giving a zero mph reading letting it think the rears wheelspinning to add brakes,

Another note is the pins can break off in the blue abs sensor connector too,

You need diagnostic with live data and watch all 4 wheel speeds one will either be at 0 or a wild random number compared too the rest,

Also another note is the steering wheel clock spring moniters relitave angle too the steering wheel sensor, if you install the wheel off center you can have the dsc kick in when you turn,

If you haven't got diagnostics leave rear sensors plugged in and disconnect each front see if its still the same

If its a blue plug on the car it needs to have a blue plug sensor, also e53 x5 sensors dont work even though they're physically and plug in the same they don't work, i tried one day with what i had laying about so if you've bought a sensor that says for e53 or l322 it wont work,

Also green and blue abs sensors aren't interchangeable they must match the plug on the car

The abs lights will be out because it passes the static test everything connected and passed, the fact it throws the brake on when you move leads to an unreadable abs ring or a sensor not correctly reading the speed

This is starting to sound like a mechanical issue with the driveshaft, park brake or service brake. Are you sure they were refitted correctly after stripping to replace the hub?
If it was ABS kicking in, then the ABS lamp should be flashing amber to indicate activity.

Wrong abs sensor exactly the same as mine did with an x5 sensor, but if your cars plug is green you need a green plugged abs sensor, my late 2005 4.2 is a green plug and its incompatible with the blue plug sensor

Ok gents
So after battling the forces of nature as I don't have a garage .. I had to perform major surgery to get the old sensor out however after putting the new sensor in and doing a reset just to make sure.. and she's back... pulls like a train .. so over the next 2 weeks I will take it out for a run every other night just to make sure its all good .. then If alls well I will put it back on the road for winter...
So that just leaves me to say thank you to all involved with your input ..
Cheers fellows ....
