Got 1 pulley off, seems to be compression fit.

Yeah you might want to sweat the new pulleys on...

sweat? like as in heat?

I popped of my current lucus unit and with a bit of a bash the pulley come of, and 2min later its on the new alternator!
Alignment looks good, need to double check when the rain stops.

Had to have a faf with the alignment, but with the spacers and washers which were on the old one and the new I got it sorted

Old spindle looks almost identical to the newer one.

It would also work that way!

Easy job then!

Yeah I meant to heat the pulley to expand it but clearly not necessary.

Must get looking for a high output unit then, what was that from please mark? P38?

The only other things to note is the new ring terminal is larger and the mounts are closer together than on the newer alternator so had to use a few extra nuts n bolts.

Now to order another pulley and start fitting the other one!

Thanks for the link!

That's good regards internal fan, I don't run a guard on my alternator but the fan can be a bugger, don't wana get too close to the bugger when trying to wash the alternator out to get it working again :p

Got the new pulley for the 2nd alternator today, looked a lil slim to me, a test fit it on a belt confirmed it, seems the grove isn't quite wide enough for the belt to sit in fully!
I think there is enough un machined bit to widen it sufficiently.
It looks to be of similar design to the original one.

bunch of pics I forgot to upload, Going to take a fair bit of spacing to get the pully in lin with the pump belt.

nicly done...BUT WHY???

just fit a big alternator???

twin alts will fight each other...one will do charging while other does feck all.
only any good if charging twin batterys independently..
i know cos i have, and its basic electrical theory.

but i admit..looks good

as i said have twin alts...

Think i found a solution to the offset pulley situation.
ETC5422

It fits in behind the water pump drive pulley
