Ive routed the wires along the rack itself towards the back of the vehicle and routed them in through the back door seal and fitted a waterproof quick connector.

Next route the power wires from the battery box behind the trim pannels or under carpets to keep it neat and tidy.

Attached the female water tight connector to this and mounted this on the rear door panel with a couple of screws behind the door seal.

That way you have a quick release fitting if you need to take the rack off, no holes in roof etc...nice and simple!

Now thats what I call inspired.
My rack has hollow box section running from front to rear which will protect the cable and it's much easier to find a suitable place to make a hole through the bodywork at the rear rather than the roof itself.
What type of connector did you use and where is the best place to get one?

Any electrical factor, think i used maplins...cable tie the wires onto the insides of the rack as well to keep it neat and hidden from the local scrotes...could electrify the rack as well..thatl learn em!!

Just make sure the connector is waterproof just in case!

Granted the wiring runs are a touch longer, but why drill holes in yer roof:eek:

After some serious brain straining and some inspired rummaging in my shed I found a suitable offcut of 3 core armoured cable.
I'll use this where it is exposed combined with a waterproof connector that I got at my local sparks shop which I'll fit at the rear to allow the rack to be removed if needed. Not the most flexible of stuff but needs must.
I'd like to see the kids chop this stuff with a swiss army knife. It measures about 15mm thick and the wires look big enough to carry the load of two 55w halogens so no worries. Overkill I know but once its done it will stay done.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
