Speaking of laning. Couple of pics that were took out laning today. :)






Then on the way back to Downton found a stranded slitty. He was worried I'd get stuck anorl but the disco got in and out with slitty attached on a rope no trouble and at all. :D

Making some progress with my winch bumper at last. Built to suit the 2 inch body lift when it goes on. :)



Just needs the hole cut out for the rope to pass through, holes drilling to attach the winch (will do this when I buy a winch), and recovery points welded on. :)

Still not finished yet mind. Will be welding in the recovery points hopefully this weekend. 20mm profiled plate with a 26mm hole through it. ;) will be welded both sides of the front winch plate so should be strong enough.

Then need to add some stiffeners (also being profiled at work;)) with the correct size holes punched in em to add the the chassis mounts. :)

Bodylift is going to be a barsteward. The bolt on the rear of the sill is a pig to get at and out. Other than that should be a breeze :p
 
Bumper update.

Insanely beastly hoooomongus recovery points fresh off the profiler at work this morning.




Made from 20mm plate so should be up to the job. :D


Then welded to the bumper. :D





Then put a shackle on to see what it'll look like :p





More to come later on once I've done some more welding :)

Some new goodies have arrived :D




Axle mounted dislocation cones. Having serious problems with the springs popping out off road so it's a must. I even get enough articulation to get the fronts out of the seats.! :D

Speaking of which I must go out and get the front n/s spring back in....... :p


Also ordered some flat dog extended arches which should be here tomorrow (bought these as they are supposed to be indestructible) so have a fun weekend ahead!

Busy weekend ahead on the ol' disco. :)


My extended arches were delivered yesterday.



As were my long bolts ready for the bodylift.

My mate was chucking this lot out so pinched em before they went in the bin! :p



Will cut it about and make it fit.

Tonight's efforts was getting the roller fairlead on the winch bumper. Still need to cut a hole for the wire/rope in the front plate but it's almost done! :D




So in short the weekends plan are: (in no particular order)

1. Bodylift.
2. Winch bumper fitment.
3. Extended arch kit.
4. Upside down dislocation cones.
5. General preventative maintenance. (because I've been playing in big puddles :p)
6. Make them nice sillycone hoses and stainless pipe fit.

Right so...... Didn't get as much done today as I was hoping :(

Every bolt holding the body on was seized bastid solid!

Managed to undo them all eventually though so the bus is almost ready to be put on the lift blocks. Just need to undo my steering shaft and up she goes. :D

Once all the bolts were undone I decided to leave it as I'll have some help tomorrow for the body lift itself so got on a fitted the extended arches.





Now need to buy a new set of offset wheels or spacers. :p

So by the time I got this far it was getting dark so gave up for the night ready for a bright early start tomorrow. :)

Yep he was chucking them out! I nabbed them just as he was about to chuck them in the scrap bin at work. :D

Definitely busy only spent 6 hours on it today and only finished one thing on the list..... :eek:

Got help tomorrow though so will hopefully be a little more productive. :eek:

Today went very well indeed! Got much more done than expected thanks to the help from my mate. :)

So...... On with the pictures. :D

Starting with the body lift.


Halfway done.








Then the other side.






Was very simple after the struggle of getting the old body mount bolts out!

Then I got on and fitted the dislocation cones.



And yep I should of jet washed it before delving into it but hey ho. :p

Whilst I was fitting the dislocation cones my mate got on and fitted the new pipes and silicone hoses in the engine bay.



So then all that was left was fitting of the winch bumper.

Still unfinished but wanted to get it on to see what it looked like!







Then a few pics of it all done and warming up ready for a quick outing on a few local lanes in the dark.

Been thinking about doing the body lift myself, but not sure how to go about it.
Also need to weld up the rear mount so the extra space would make it easier aswel.

Body lifts are simple.

Undo the 10 body mounts, undo the 4 seat belt anchors, undo the steering shaft lift one side at a time and insert your lift blocks with new extended bolts.

Most kits come with radiator pins to lift the radiator, gearstick extensions, and the seat belt anchor extensions. And instructions.

But that's pretty much all there is to it.

Most of mine has been fabbed up by myself so saved a fair bit of money.

You may also need extended brake lines. But didn't as I compensated when I ordered my custom stainless braided hoses to replace all the copper lines.
 
I could turn up the blocks myself. But not sure on doing it. It is my only form of trans right now. So obviously don't want to screw it up and end up being stuck.

Noticed you said you have replaced all your break lines with braided. Is that every brake line on the truck?
I'm looking to remove my abs and do the same but have no idea how much I would need.
Running a 2" body lift like you and planning on fitting +5" suspension.

Regards the brake line, literally every single line on the truck is now braided no copper hose at all. Fed up with the messing about with seized unions and what not. And just because I could. :p

Removing the abs is definitely worth its more hassle than its worth! As for how much braided hose you need. Well that depends on how and where you want to run the lines? I worked out where I was running it then used some rope to give me an idea of length, phoned Dave @llama4x4 and told him what I wanted. With what ends on each hose etc. Was delivered 3 days later. I think including the spare I had 10 lines made up. Can try and find my measurements if it's any help to you?

Bare in mind though my front lines are the same as the back so fronts run down along the radius arms to the caliper. This is so one spare will fit any corner. Saves carrying lots of different ones. ;)

The braided set up helps hugely with being flexible enough to go anywhere so a plus 5" suspension set up will be no problem for it! :)
