Just a quickie-is the blue wire going to the RF receiver the aerial?

Place where I work has just had wireless transmitters fitted and the car will not lock whilst on the premises.

Cheers Steve

yes, but if you are having issues the you had best check (by opening the black box bit) and seeing what type you have. 3 different types and only the later type will work and also prevent alarm woes and burnt out lock issues

+1 and the third type is now hard to obtain and costs an arm and a leg:eek:

Thanks all,
It is the old unit-I don't like the idea of spending a couple of hundred quid on a box that cost a few quid to make. Only happened the last two weeks at work-I'll try parking the other side of the car park.

Cheers

Better than spending a few more ££££ on new locks and motors and then buying one anyway?? :p

One day you will pull into an unfamiliar car park or Fuel station fore court and wish you had spent the money......
It's when you find out your EKA code don't work anymore :doh:

+1 and you will regret it even more when your locks burn.

Out of curiosity, how will the door locks burn out?just because it picks up dodgy signals, surely the car wont lock and unlock by itself,

When the early RF receiver fails, it can go mad and constantly try to cause the locks to cycle until they overheat and burn.

I take it if the blue wire is disconnected ,this helps the situation?im sure mine has been unplugged, remote locking works perfect but you have to be close to the car for it to operate ,but doesn't bother me the slightest

Disconnecting the blue wire merely reduces the susceptability to RF interferance which may stop you locking/unlocking the car, it does not affect the lock burning as far as I'm aware.

Would than not depend on how close/ strong the signals are.

Evening all,
Had the engine immobilised message and press remote when trying to start at work. Got it started and drove home. System back to normal at home-must be the wi-fi at work.
As I see it, if the wi-fi signal is strong it will interfere with the receiver-it doesn't allow me to lock the car on the remote and throws an engine immobilised message.
By disconnecting the blue wire I'm effectively reducing the sensitivity of the system and the wifi may not have the power to affect the rf receiver. I don't think it's the rf receiver playing up as it only happens at work-we have had multi wi-fi transmitters fitted throughout the premises (school) and outside.
I have a spare RF receiver (old type) and will also try this as well. I will also park as far from the buildings as possible.

Cheers

You are wasting your time changing your R/F unless its for the latest one. Try disconnecting the blue wire(aerial) and see what happens. Depending on the year, pre 2000 is ok I think, disconnect the R/F completely and just use the key. I did this over 18 mths ago and have not had any problems since.:)

only the third one in this picture will solve your problems

I disconnected the blue wire on mine for a year before replacing the receiver module with the latest one. Had no problems, only pain was having to hold the blipper next to the rear window to lock/unlock the car.

Thanks again!
I'll give it a go but failing that who is now selling the latest receivers? I've had a scout around the usual suppliers but they are all showing out of stock.

Cheers

Same with the main stealers and the price has gone sky high. I just use my key and f*ck them. quote: I like a man who bears a grudge !
