Right when i bought the 110 3weeks back it came lifted by 2 inch. This wasnt really an attraction for the vehicle it was just fitted.

Now having lived with it for 3 weeks i,ve came to the conclousin that,

1. The pram wheels its runing on are way to small, but i cant see wider wheels improving handling.

2. The body roll is horrendous and it "wanders" on the road, but would a new improved steering damper elevite this?

3. It isn,t fitted with cranked rear trailing arms or castor correcting front radius arms, and i can see the stress and the angle of the axles due to this.

Now i,ve read Trewey,s thread, and i,m thinking of returning the vehicle back to its orriginal ride hight. Having looked and read different threads , it seems to me all it is , changing the springs and shocks back to normal height?

Is it and have any of you fine gentleman done a reverse on a lift kit and encountered problems you were unawre of?

No doubt some of you will give me a ripping:p but i use this vehicle 70% on roads and the handling is doing my nut in!

That said i have a potential buyer for the 90 that was going to include cranked arms and castor correct arms in his offer for my 90!

Hopefully several cans of stella and the rugby tommorrow will help me decide:D, but as allways i,ll ask here first

cheers!

treweys fred is very one sided and only one persons bad experience so don't read it as gospel

try looking at all the bushes, track rod ends,a frame ball joint etc anything that could be worn before you go doin unnecessary work

I believe i asked this question quite a while ago but dont think i got a definitive answer. I know that all thats been done to mine is +2 shocks and springs been stuck on it and i want to take it off when i can afford some new ones, not keen on a lift at all anyway

every landys different..theres so may variables if parts are worn before u do a lift then sods law says they will fail quicker after a lift.

Cheers Wiltshire, i,m thinking of the downsize for a few reasons. Firstly i use Wolfs at work and there not raised and i,ve taken them some very extreme places to recce jobs. Plus ma wee 90 beast isnt raised and it handles fantastic, but i replaced a lot of steering components and she was running 265/75/16,s.

Whats your take on 2" lift? for the money i may spend on replacing arms and other items would i be better off wea new spings shocks?

i was parked next to 110 in tesco earlier and mine looked way taller and in ma mind akward next to it!

I think i got blinkerd when i bought mine. After 3 weeks issues are apperaing , front bearings are diffentely shot, changed the glow plugs and the nice new door they fitted, dosent have a decent seal round the window to door!....time for some tigger action when i get a chance!

Think clutch release bearing is shot......and i aint happy with the angle of the front axle, due to the lift!

My 90 has a similar problem. There is a 2" lift kit on it, and it came with 8 spokes and 265 75 Insa Turbo tyres.

Just changed to some freestyle alloys and 225 BFG M/Ts

It looks a bit daft left up in the air, so new HD STD height suspension.has arrived today. Hoping to fit it tomorrow. The Insa's should still fit if I need them.

Looking forward to it fitting in my garage, and even though the handling is ok it will hopefully ride well on the road.

Kes ma 90 is running on 265/75/16,s with no dramas, apart from a bit of feed back on max lock.

The 110 looks silly the now as the wheels are so small , i to have freestyles fitted, but the hanling is pump, that was ma chain of thought for dropping it

Thinking about dropping mine to std, back end is squatting down too much also. Would 265/75 16 cooper stt fit with std set up?

Wolf did you ever get an answer or have you gone an dropped yours?

Kes when you replaced the lift what make did you go for and are you happier now shes lower?

Changed the springs and shocks over last week, my original plan to remove the old 2" kit and sell it on, took a dive when all of the yellow paint fell off the old springs onto the floor of the garage and the nuts on the front shocks would only come off part way and then stuck. So I had to cut the shocks off. Luckily the rears came loose relatively easily.

The new springs are Britpart HD standard height with the Britpart Gas thingy wotsit shocks. I did a few searches on here and also spoke to a couple of Landophile locals, who all said the Britpart springs were ok. But to avoid some of the other cheaper brands.

To be honest I have only been up the road and back a couple of times, but it seems smooth and not too jiggly. The springs feel like they will suit the big fat winch and bumper and towing the car trailer.

It is about 1.5" lower with the new springs, maybe they will settle, and I think it will just fit in the garage.

I think if it was standard without the extra weight etc, I would go for standard springs and standard spec shocks.

Overall I am happy with it, and glad it didn't drop too low. It still looks purposeful. Ill get some photos once once it comes out of the garage next.

Cheers Kes

With my 90 leaving tomorrow i,ll have some pennies.

The set up you mentioned was the same as what i,m intending to fit on mine. Fed up with body roll. I,m going to be running on 265/75/16,s again when i finaly get some for the right price.

The Gaz shocks dont seem to get to bad a review from folk so i,'ll see what time brings. And aye post a pick please, this is ma 2 last week in the workshop........110 looks stupid that high wea pram wheels:rolleyes:

If its any help. My 90 was 550mm from wheel centre to arch lip, front and rear with the lift springs. With the HD springs on its about 515mm.

Your 110 does look high, but as mine was wearing the Insa's maybe it wasn't so obvious.

Maybe stating the obvious, but the +2" shocks would definitely have let the HD springs fall out of the spring seats. Std height shocks would be preferred unless you want to go for dislocation cones etc, I just bought new shocks as the cost was similar.

Looks like your workshop has some nice toys to work on. I fancy an army truck of some sort if I can find something interesting, and somewhere to put it.

Not yet mate but ive been following this thread and reckon ill just go and do it anyway. New springs and shocks are definitely my next purchase. Let us know how you get on with dropping yours

Mate i,d be carefull of anything ex-mod, i have to recover these things from all sorts of accidents/breakdowns/####ups/bogged/stuck, and some folk the army employ aint the brightest!

I need to measure the distance now that you,ve mentioned it, was hopping just to change the springs and see how that goes for now, the terrifirma (if thats whats fitted under the waxoil) shocks should do normal ride and up to 2 inch....would save money for other parts!

Will do bud , looking at super gaz gas shocks and normal rover springs, just seen an other thread were Famous four get a good write up so i,ll try there first. Looking like i,ll order next week, stick photos up like!

Ive been watching this on ebay for ages and ive been told that its a not bad setup, for 150 quid i wouldnt complain...

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=130766118480

And not a blue box in sight :D. Its what ill be putting on mine anyway so hopefully itll soften the ride. When i bought my 90 it was done up as a challenge truck of sorts and i think its got HD springs on it. To say the ride is very rough is an understatement

Yur linky aint working Wolf, i,ve just found these Gaz Shocks 150 quid for the set again canna grumble. Springs seem to be a harder choice.

Think i might do springs first and see if that improves the ride. My 110 csw sways into and out of corners and the ride is harsh the poor mutt gets battered in the back. This 110 has a "terrifirma" 2 inch lift fitted, had ma eyes out i think. Got a weekend of drinking/thinking to mull it over!

Damn, if you take the item number off the end and stick that into a search on eBay it'll bring it up. That's the full set up anorl, springs included. Mines is the same though, it wallows terribly on corners and on the 16 miles of farm road I drive every day the dog gets rattled about in the back. Worst thing is I don't think the road condition is even that bad  just my suspensions shoite

That is a good price!:D same stuff we get through at work for the wolfs!

Need to do mine soon as its making a nice noise like the wheel bearings are shot, but they aint so i think ma front prop aint enjoying its new angle!
