Talked to a mate and he said the alive tuning full house job isn't just a remap it's thousands of pounds worth of all sorts. A Good map, EGR and eggsause mods should put you at around 180BHP :). I bet they drives like angels like that!

They do it right......;) If they do all the work. If you do some of the work, exhaust, inter cooler and hoses, you can save. Then let them do the electric stuff . But I think this is the most reliable and best system out there, and the least likely to cause a engine failure. Like there VNT turbo.:D

Okay, just to potentially throw a spanner into this thread, can anyone say what happens when you call your insurance and tell them you've had a remap? Of course I know you should tell them, I also probably know there'll be some that don't on the assumption that it's not likely to be checked in the event of a claim. But with insurance companies wanting to cut costs, it maybe something that could end in tears.

Do they hike your premiums?

Depends on company. Tell them it is a fuel enhancement map

I'd be inclined to say nothing.
After all the remap was done by a previous owner ... wasn't it
And he omitted to tell you that a remap had been done ... didn't he
There's nothing to show that the ECU has been remapped
You didn't know it had been remapped when you bought it ... you just liked the colour.

+1...:D:D:D:D:D:D play stupid

I tend to declare all mods big or small. Not had a raise until i mentioned a map.

2 reasons if its nicked theres proof on both ends ive bought those parts and if im in an accident got nothing to worry about. Plus some things drop your premium

Just penciled in my 2004 td5 for stage one remap with dynachip. Driving all the way up through France the week before so when it is done I will have a good drive back to see what difference it makes. I am going for usability, not economy but if I do happen to get a few more mpg then result. £225 quoted.

Also doing decat and K&N air fitler. Not EGR though.

Remap all done by Mike at Dynachip for £225 on my 2004 D2 td5 es auto with 64000 on the clock.

I went for the stage 1 which was just the map as I didn't want massive power, just enough to pull up the long hills on the motorway without changing down. If I did happen to get improved mpg then well and good.

What a great service to get at your home. He checked the map the ecu already had to see if it had been changed then put in the new map explaining the map that he is putting in and showing me on an excel worksheet. To be honest it was just a load of numbers I didn't understand. Then checked the turbo, ecu for oil ingress and a general look at the engine. We went for a test drive up and down the a dual carriageway. The increase in power is immediately noticeable but the best part in my opinion is when the torque converter comes in around 53mph. Once that has locked the car will accelerate from 50 to 70/80 as quick as I would ever want my land rover to go. Surprised a few white vans stuck to my chuff a few times. Overtaking is now a breeze. From pulling out of a junction IF you floor it the traction control will cut in.

I have noticed an increase in mpg even with all the driving having been at motorway speed in the UK and 130 kph in France, even with my right foot becoming slightly heavy. now that I am back home and will be driving mainly on 90 kph roads I am expecting there to be a bigger improvement as when the torque converter is engaged I can slow down to @ 48 mph and it stays engaged and she then just pulls so nicely from @ 1800 rpm. All I need to do is keep the revs around the 2000 mark and all should be well. I can see where when towing this map would really come into it's own due to the increased power at lowers revs, so I am now looking for a caravan, which was always my plan. On long drags up hill on motorways you do not have to slow down.

On the way to the UK, an 878 mile journey I averaged 26 mpg. On the way back after the map 28.3 mpg. Both ways fully loaded and I don't go slow for economy sake.

Now got the egr kit to do but not putting on K & n air filter as dynachip mike says that the oil from the filter can coat the sensor in the air flow meter causing problems just change the normal air filter more often.

I have done 1500 miles since the map and I haven't experienced any problems with overheating but the map only gives around an extra 40 bhp. His other maps recommend bigger inter coolers etc.

So pleased that I have done it. Now she is my ideal land rover. just now needs a little light weight to sit along side her, one day maybe.

You've done exactly what I did ^^ and seem to have achieved the same results. Still wish I hadn't had to sell mine, though :(

I think we must be related, as my first Landy-love was a Lightweight - I can sell you a caravan, too! :D

Shame you had to sell as I would be gutted to get rid of it now. Then again I'm sure she will never fail to let me down sometime in the future.

Got away with the remap as SWMBO couldn't see it, a caravan on the other hand she might just notice but it is penciled in for the future. Need more money.......

Had mine mapped on saturday, goes like **** off a hot shovel now but has exposed a naff clutch. The plat springs are naffed and it slips a little when you give it the beans. Better sort that out then, but should be uttely brilliant when it's done.

which company and what hp did you put it upto? 225-240HP:D

Was a monster map installed by Springwater Cars in Calverton - really great service actually. It put it up by 20bhp ish above stock and about 23% more torque. A quick search revealed that extra power often reveals a clutch at the end of its life. The pedal is really heavy aswell so I knew it was probably going to need doing soon anyway.

well after having this car 14 month now, just passed mot with flying colours, have been threw it with a fine tooth comb and sorted most things, it is a bit flat compared to my old girl who was chipped from day 1, so have just booked it in to Dyna chip to have a re map, do i go stage 1 or go up to a stage 2 and upgrade my intercooler! has anybody done a stage 2? and posted the results!

an update, re mapped today! ironed all problems out and this has been in my mind for a good few months, best £225 ive spent on this car, What a nice and helpful knowledgeable person mike from Dynachip is, car now will pick it's feet up. not the dead unresponsive thing it was,
Made it a truly different vehicle,

I stuck a £50.00 plug box from germany on my missuses 2004 disco auto, you can set the level of tune you want, I had previously removed the cat and egr which improved it, but the box transformed it, I pull a 750kg boat outfit to the end of the lleyn peninsula, and it is now a real pleasure.

has it made any difference to the fuel consumption??

nothing noticeable

good, because you get some bods on here saying it will just fool the ecu into delivering more fuel etc.i had one of these boxes on my rover 75 a few years ago.made by roveron.it made a huge difference and my mpg was better.
