My 1975 mk3 Cortina had typically useless 1970's locks, which Ford could not be bothered to improve.
After a theft attempt in 1979 I fitted deadlocks to the front doors; sent a bolt through the bottom of the door pillar.
These worked perfectly and successfully thwarted the scrotes subsequent attempts several times over the next 9 years.
It was slightly more inconvenient opening two locks per door, but it was worth it to me at the time.
 
@adicutza2007 , I'd really recommend you test drive a Subaru Forester XT before you buy an Evoque. They're lightyears better...more internal space, far more robust, rarely fail, significantly lower running cost, insurance is remarkably low, are rarely if at all stolen and above all...you 1. have the inner knowing smile your driving a Subaru with a 2.5ltr turbo charged engine with Subaru's impeccable symmetrical all wheel drive system, and 2. you'll be part of quite an exclusive group of drivers.

It is possible to catch the code from the fob and rebroadcast it. Very few can do it. However, on later models I think it may still need a transponder chip in the key to be picked up by the coil around the ignition. Although I might be mixing that up with an old Astra I had.

Id go for a the younger Freelanders over an Evoque just the amount of space is better for rear passengers. But if it's what you want and can afford it go for it.

The active coil on the later P38 is more about FOB sync than anything else. With EKA turned off it is deactivated. No transponder chip is needed to start the car.
