My mate used to have a wire linked to his shed door that when tripped would let off a blank shotgun cartridge....what a bang....can I mod this to somewhere on my Landy ???? The mind boggles....

At risk of being predictable: you could easily trigger it from a tracker! that way you can scare the bejesus out of them after they've taken your motor anorl!

If you are going to loose the landy try one of these
Tile seems quite a good idea.
Hide it somewhere and the group grows you will recover it easier.

Great post by the way.

But officer I really really thought it was a blank. I must get my eyes tested. When is the thief due out of hospital.

The best anti-theft devices are in South Africa :) Here in Russia, older Land Rovers are never stolen, at least I've never heard of such a thing. The gentleman I bought my Disco from told me: "you've just acquried a beatiful piece of British real estate - you will probably never be able to sell this truck." Ditto for Volvos except for XC90 and all Saabs, thieves don't touch them. BMW X5 and VW Passat used to be the leaders amongst stolen vehicles.
In Russia, people use immobilizers, which can be built into any car, as well as multilock. This locks the transmission. Steering wheels locks are useless. In Russia they also produces an affordable steering column lock, you can't really see it untill you are under the steering column, and it's a massive stainless steel bar that locks the column in place. It is also supposed to take thiefs by surprise, since you don't see it at first glance. It will only rob them of a couple of minutes, if they are properly equipped, but sometimes those couple of minutes count. Best if used in conjunction with an another anti-theft device. I have one in my Benz, but I stopped actually using it a couple of years back.
P.S.
Please excuse my spelling
