Excellent thread rattler, I've been enjoying this one. It's been keeping my landy juices flowing while stuck indoors fitting a kitchen.. ;)

Haha, yeah the gearbox is sort of holding me up atm as I've got the money to get it done but they have too much work on to do it so i'm waiting patiently and being careful what I spend as the gearbox is the most important thing I need to get done atm, there's loads of other stuff I need to do but if I start digging into the gearbox money I won't get it done and its f*****g hard :(

Being as I can't go swinging ( metal detecting ) next week as I can't get the time off work I have bought a couple of bit's n bob's for the 2a a set of new ss nuts, bolts and washers for the bulkhead support brackets and a PCL air riveter as I want to get the front panel painted soon and will need to rivet on the pedalbox blanking plates for the n/s footwell and once I've removed the cappings from the tub and the tub is painted I will be riveting new capping to it so the air riveter should do nicely.

Gave the new air riveter ago today, didn't try it on Saturday as I ended up going away for the weekend but more on that on my Anything goes thread, Anyway so I sealed the blanking plates first with silicon then pop riveted the plates on and the air riveter was awesome, I've never done much riveting really but the little bit I have done I always had trouble with either the rivet guns or the rivets them self's but this thing is awesome so anyone looking at getting one get one as they are great.
I also replaced the temporary bulkhead support bracket bolts with new Stainless Steel ones aswell, can't wait to fit the cappings using the riveter.

More riveting today re-securing the heat shield to the n/s/f wing as there was only one rivet holding it on so re-fitted it with 4 new rivets aswell as re-fitting the wing stiffener back on as I had to remove it will making the intercooler fit, then I removed both headlight bowls from the wings ready for when we paint them :)

What PSI did you use that rivet gun at? I'm looking for one now.. My own small compressor goes up to about 90 PSI, do you think this would be enough?

Went to push the 2a out of the garage to give the garage a bit of a tidy up and noticed all the 2a's bodywork that was originally all covered up outside was all uncovered and the roof was partially spun round like someone had been snooping round but hopeing it was to do with the wind we had earlier this week but I was in the garage earlier in the week aswell and didn't notice anything then, but everything is still there thank god and I've covered it all back up again.

Made a start painting the bracketery I made a few months ago for the rad and intercooler and getting ready for making and fitting the alternator belt ( may need to mod the alternator bracket ) :(

Had another setback over Christmas, I read that Syncro gearboxes are no longer doing work on series gearboxes from 1/1/2019, shame as when I next get paid I would have had the money to get the gearbox and H/R transferbox done by them but can't now.
anyway I've found a solution J. Beaumonts can rebuild my gearbox and although they don't uprate any gearing they said if I buy an H/R transfer box kit from Ashcroft they will build it up and fit to my gearbox which is what we have decided to do and have placed an order with Ashcroft's then once the kit arrives we can then deliver everything to Beaumonts :D

Some pic's of the new Ashcroft transfer case kit just incase some of us haven't seen one before

I also moded the alternator bracket today to line the alt pulley inline with the crank and water pump pulley's then went in search for a fan belt with a length of 3 core cable to no avail as the biggest they had was a 1050 which was still too short so will have another try on Monday.
the belt in the pic was just cut and layed across the alt and water pump pulley's and pulled tight to set the spacing :)

Ok managed to go to the two motorist's shops and came back with a 1225mm x 13mm belt and it would only reach between the alt pulley nut and the top of the alt pulley so i've ordered a Dayco 1250mm x 13mm belt off ebay which should fit once it arrives :)

New 1250mm x 13mm arrived the other day and just fitted it this morning aswell as a pair of lower grill brackets as I left the old ones on the old ( scrapped ) front panel as I nu I was getting new ones :)
