Stig is right Pos but they normally come with Gudgen pins and small ends but that is it
yer mean he's honed his bores with the pistons still in??

also btw, is this RTC2993 Big end shells - std (con rod bearings) - 2.5 N/A Diesel a set of bearings for all four big ends or just one?

the bearing pos will only be for one so you will need 4 i presume you have ordered 4 pistons as well cos they dont come as a set either

Warm yer pistons up with a cloth soaked in boiling water an wrung out an yer gudgeon pins will slide out easy enough. Put yer gudgeon pins in the freezer the night before you want to fit em an they'll slide in a piece of ****. The big end shells are in matched pairs in their boxes an if you mix em up you'll be ****ed.

All is going well so far. I haven't had chance to stop and really get on with it, Friday will be a whole day dedicated to my engine alone. I have broken one oil seal ring on a new piston so I'll need a new set of rings to fix that one 
and there's a load of gunk on the top of the block head from the previous head gasket. It's almost baked on, so how should I get rid of that?

I use a 2 inch wood chisel - carefully.
The block is cast iron so the chisel can't dig in to it.
If the chisel is nice and sharp and has a dead straight edge it should remove all the old gasket fast and easy.
If you do this on an aluminium alloy head you can dig chunks out using a chisel unless you are very careful.

i didnt have any trouble with the crud on the head cos its easy to get to and see what ur doing but the sump gasket was about 2 mm thick and looked like an asbestos gasket and was an absolute fooker to get of it was hard enough on the sump wher e i coulkd get to it but laying underneath was a bitch to say the least. just sitting waiting for the call top say me pistons are ready to be picked up now so i spent a bit of time this morning with some brake and parts cleaner removing all the crud and leaked oil on the block and head.
