Wont be putting it back on when the engine goes back in thats for sure!

depends how far u go, iv just done gear an transfer box, once cross member and supports are remove (nd half the interior) then its easy enough to get top as the box drops a good few inch to remove it.

i supported engine to keep it at the same angle for rfefitting but since your removed it it makes it easier.

out of interest where are you getting your sheet steel from?

Brilliant threat, I may actually rebuild mine when I have some spare coins rather than the patches I'm trying at the moment.

Finally an update for my project.

As i said in the post above its just been too cold to get out there and do anything.
Wish i had the luxury of a garage or workshop i could fit the disco in.

As today wasnt too bad (if youve got about 5 layers of clothing on) i did manage to finally get my new sill in place and plug welded in. :D
Although alot of faffing about took place first as youll see in the first pic.

It did end up in a triangle shape and welded a new bit in but forgot to take pics. Will get some tomorrow after ive seam welded the sill in completely.

Heres the sill before being plug welded in.

The body mounts that i welded on made getting the new sill in an absolute pig of a job but got there in the end after beating it in with a big hammer:p

And heres how i left it ready to be seam welded.

And finally a new purchase today from halfrauds! 150piece socket/rachet spanner set for £80!

More to follow tomorrow hopefully!

thats £10 cheaper in B&Q with rubber grips on the ratchets drivers and some other subtle differences but my mate has the set you have and i have the B&Q set, he was well gutted when i told him the price difference.

N/s sill finished!
Heres the sill already seam welded in and seam sealed and everything except the seam sealant painted cos i was waiting for it to dry.

Just i case your wondering the bit the primer on the n/s footwell is where i cut out a load of rotted floor. Forgot to take pics of that though.

Next few pics are of it completely painted ready for another layer of primer in the next few days followed by a black top coat. For the top coat i will be using black manor chassis paint.

So thats one job ticked off the list only a million more things to go:(

Cheers mr. Noisy your input is much appreciated as ive got to admit this project is starting to get a little daunting. The shear amount of work ive got left to do is ridiculous.

Still i have some awesome news to add to the thread today.

Im picking up a v8 on Saturday! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Will post pictures up at the weekend of collecting/getting it back home. :D

Anyways on to what progress ive made with the disco today.

Gearbox and transfer box are out.

Removing it was actually alot easier than i expected it to be. Only took about 2 hours.

This is what the chassis looks like where the gearbox crossmember bolts to.

Suprisingly no holes even after clouting it with a hammer and screwdriver.

And thats about it for now:D

Lovely job, so are you converting this vehicle to V8 motor?

Remember the gearbox is different!

Plus, that gearbox you removed looks very much to me like an LT77, whats that doing in a 300 i wonder??

Certainly am! Really love the v8 noise and got bored very quickly of the derv.

Gearbox is already sorted picking one up with the engine. :) only thing i wont have is the bell housing.
Still if worst comes to worst i could make this one fit by machining out the spigot bearing and packing the bellhousing out by 6mm.

Nice work on the sills :0)

Cheers took me long enough to do one side :p (about a month) at least i know what im doing when i do the other side........... Well at least i think i do:confused: haha

Oh yes:D will be my first v8 ever and ive gotta say im looking forward to watching the fuel gauge drop as i press the loud peddle! :p

I drove it back 70miles and put £20 on top of just under 1/4 when i drained tank had 15litres in still
