Hey Paul what kind of honer are u using ? by the looks its the 3 legged with grinding stones yeah ?? . she does look like shes a hi-miler from the pics but how much of a step have ya got ?
 
Yeah it's the 3 legged version with stones. As for the lip i haven't measured it as yet and to top it off the head gasket is a 3 hole version so the engine has had work done in the past
 
Small update, new year coming and finances are looking up, so i hoping to get some headway with it.

Started to steam clean the engine although it is proving to be a right pain in the cold weather ( can't see fook all! ) and remove the infamous crankhaft gear that is still eluding me, grinded one side of it off and tackling the other over the weekend. Once i have it off i can look at getting the rebore done ( £80 ) and the bottom end rebuilt which i'm rather looking forward to ;)

A question though, what is a good way to flush through the block? Oil ways, water ways, and generally clean it all of any crap that it may have picked up for other work done in the garage ( it has been covered up 90%) of the time.
 
missed this post, very interesting, as ive a spare 200tdi in me workshop.

i thought about a rebiuld for it, but did,t think it would be cost affective as there cheapish to pick up.

It'll cost you apprx 4 times more than buying one from a donor vehicle ( including rebores/new pistons etc ) and isn't worth it if you just want a 200tdi to chug about in.

i was given mine as a project though, i'd rather take something onboard, repair it where needed and learn as i go along, i should end up with a fully rebuilt 200Tdi by myself and learnt alot in the meantime :D

Needless to say i'll prolly cock summat up at some point, but that's the value in learning as you go along, i'd rather fit something i have full knowledge than an engine which could cock up 500 miles down the road from a donor vehicle and i end up throwing money at it anyway.
